  1. Next time she should try finishing in the top three.
  2. Once Egypt qualifies a team, the fight for the second Group F quota might be interesting a bunch of nations are pretty close together.
  3. They changed the rules for 2020, only nations with no quotas are eligible and eligible nations can only receive one quota. Add in the maximum of two quotas per event and we're pretty much guaranteed that not all tripartite quotas will be used.
  4. Quite impressive, considering that for most of the WSL athletes the quota place would be decided at the WSL or even the 2020 Surfing Games for the small handful that fail. It however may make it harder for athletes to grab the continental quota (they must finish in the top 30).
  5. Do they still play the third match if Australia goes 2-0?
  6. So it looks like it's the Americas that are under-represented in this tournament
  7. Yeah, just like Europe in women's football, relying on results against nations from other continents to determine a continental Olympic quota is ridiculous. Even if they didn't want to have an additional tournament they could have extended the qualification round until 1 or 2 teams remained.
  8. The same issue happened in swimming in 2016 where FINA had to clarify. Sadly, no team was disqualified in 2016 at the World Relays so we won't know for sure. I think the 8 finalists will all qualify, but I hope IAAF clarifies quickly should it happen.
  9. Then why bother with silver or bronze medals, why not give them a certificate like 4th-8th place?
  10. I mean, most people would take 9 golds over 10 bronzes, but what about 1 gold over 10 bronzes? That's why a point system is probably the best. The question is which one? 3-2-1, 4-2-1, 6-2-1, 9-3-1 are all different types I've seen. Then we have ones that take into account population or GDP or a medal to event ratio...
  11. Based on the current nations ranking, we are seeing and as the nations qualifying through the world championships (Mexico will qualify through the Pan American qualifier)
  12. Obviously it's due to cheating and not about being a sore loser
  13. If Asia wanted to have multiple qualification events then they are welcome to it. Though I must say having the Asian Games as a qualification tournament is dumb because it occurs before the world qualifiers. One of the reasons why Pan American nations get more quotas than we deserve is because of this.
  14. Yeah, I don't expect China to win all three quotas, they are relatively weaker in shotgun events while other Asian countries are stronger
  15. Europe is still leading Asia 78-52 among world quotas. Plus Europe will get 4-5 continental quotas per event while Asia gets 3-4.
  16. What's more amazing is that they did it without the need of continental qualifiers. All that remains is 1 men's trap and 2 men's skeet quotas to have a complete team in the individual events
  17. Looking at the nations rankings, and are the best nations not in the top 21, but they are ranked 23rd and 22nd respectively so it wouldn't take much to qualify normally. After that we have then . We almost could have a scenario where someone that was lapped would qualify to the Olympics.
  18. Aren't the sculls events always coxless?
  19. and currently hold the quotas after the Men's U23 race. Of course, these quotas are of the lowest priority. At the very least Switzerland will be replaced via the rankings. Currently Romania holds the final spot in the rankings too, meaning both quotas could be reallocated to the next highest rank eligible nation. Once everything is settled, it could be and getting these quotas (assuming Romania qualifies through the world rankings)
  20. That's what happens when a small nation wins at the Olympics, everyone practices that sport. Though to be fair, looking at the rankings Kosovo only has 5 relevant judoka, four of which are in the top 10 of the Olympic rankings. They are just cashing in on their chances.
  21. They still need to get the MQS in order to be eligible for the quota.
  22. Not even the ICF knows who is qualified
  23. Whose idea was it to make the U23 race a qualification event? What is this, men's football?
  24. Looks like my dark horse Iran pick won't happen .
  25. Pretty much, the rule is mostly there to prevent nations from choosing a relatively weak archer over someone that is better.
