  1. Forgot to include that, it's the finalists.
  2. Mostly because they are being used to keep gender numbers more balanced. Don't worry, mixed artistic duet will be here soon enough.
  3. No they had an average of more than 8 athletes over the past two Olympics so they were dropped. I do agree that they rather go with a non-European nation due to the dominance of the continent, but I wouldn't completely rule out North Macedonia, especially if they only apply for this event while Sri Lanka applies for many. Cape Verde has also had a good relationship with FIG so they may get the nod, even if their athlete is inferior.
  4. Tripartite Eligible Performances (after 2 events) - 31.000 - 30.400 - 26.400 - 25.100 - 22.700 - 18.900 - 15.550 - 13.500 Of course, there's a bunch of other factors to consider including which events a nation is prioritizing
  5. Japan's selection event will be at the Japanese Championships scheduled in April 2020. Like for 2016 the selection criteria is the same, athletes must achieve the time equal or faster than what was done at the 2019 World Championships, with the exception of the women's 200m butterfly and 400m individual medley where the OQT must be achieved (because the OQT was faster than what was reached at the world champs).
  6. Sadly that's not an option, you either have to change or get left behind. I do agree that wrestling should have more quotas, but the same can be said for a bunch of other sports.
  7. The other option would be to kick men's freestyle and have men's Greco-Roman and women's freestyle, but I imagine the African and Pan American nations would be quite upset and I doubt the IOC would go that route. To be honest the UWW did this to themselves, the push for gender equality has been very clear for a long time. You'd think they would have tried to organize women's Greco-Roman after the whole almost getting kicked out of the Olympics fiasco. Now that boxing is starting to move closer to gender equality (assuming it even stays in the Olympics) the target will no doubt move to wrestling.
  8. To be honest, Greco-Roman is probably on borrowed time, especially with the IOC pushing for gender equality.
  9. So if I read the schedule correctly, the four Olympic events are all on the same day?
  10. Italy needs to save some of its luck for the Olympic qualifier
  11. I didn't realize that nations can only win a single quota (this is changed from 2016). So remove Kuwait, Pakistan and San Marino from the list
  12. Paintball at the Olympics would be interesting
  13. Is the result site (SIUS) working for you? My firewall is going crazy...
  14. If we want to go by nations with the most athletes with MQS by event here are the top three nations. Men's 10m Air Rifle - 17 - 16 - 14 - 14 Men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions - 15 - 14 - 13 Men's 10m Air Pistol - 18 - 15 - 13 Men's 25m Rapid Fire Pistol - 11 - 11 - 10 - 10 Men's Trap - 16 - 14 - 12 Men's Skeet - 16 - 14 - 12 - 12 Women's 10m Air Rifle - 20 - 18 - 14 - 14 Women's 50m Rifle 3 Positions - 18 - 14 - 13 - 13 Women's 10m Air Pistol - 22 - 15 - 15 Women's 25m Pistol - 18 - 13 - 13 Women's Trap - 14 - 14 - 10 - 10 - 10 - 10 - 10 Women's Skeet - 11 - 11 - 10 - 10 - 10 Also here's the top 10 in terms of total number of MQS spots (note athletes are counted for each MQS they achieve) - 155 - 151 - 147 - 141 - 129 - 126 - 111 - 90 - 78 - 78
  15. Considering how the other two cut events are still surviving (though badly beaten) I think it was the right decision in the end. An event should in theory be able to survive without the Olympics.
  16. I had to double check that Pakistan was in Group F. I'd imagine they would have been in Group G along with the other South Asian nations.
  17. They also own Toronto teams in ice hockey, soccer, Canadian football and e-soccer
  18. They were always going to be strong, it's essentially the world cup minus a few top teams.
  19. If they qualify a women's team, they'll claim to keep their streak.
  20. FINA has always been terrible
  21. Iran is doing its job against the Philippines so China/Nigeria has become even more important for China.
  22. Nur Dhabitah Sabri won the quota in the women's 3m springboard
  23. Does that mean South Africa will use its continental quota or will they just miss the Olympic altogether?
  24. My only concern with a 3 horse team is that it may turn the event into a lottery (especially in eventing) where winning a medal is more about out-lasting your opponents rather than being the best. In reality, it'll likely be more similar to relays in athletics where one, maybe two major contenders get disqualified, but that's part of the event.
  25. As far as I can tell (no name was said) won the quota in the men's 3m springboard. Chew Yiwei and Ooi Tze Liang won silver and bronze respectively. No scores were listed. If anyone has more information it would be helpful.
