Qualification Tracker

Test

Everything posted by JoshMartini007

  1. Canada beat United States in softball
  2. It's the most fair, on the chance that either United States or Canada fail to qualify a team they should have no issue qualifying an individual and after that there aren't many good riders from Group D. None are even here (though Bermuda's rider was recently allowed to compete again after some issues with the NOC) meaning the two quotas would have been reallocated to other nations.
  3. Canada with the top two times in women's 400m IM. This is probably our best (only?) chance for a gold medal in the pool
  4. Close, but not enough. We shouldn't have an issue winning at the continental level, but at the same time Cuba is always a bit of a wildcard.
  5. Yeah, the schedule favours Mexico, it's not impossible, but we'll probably need to win some team events oppose to finishing second. Cuba also has a chance at catching us, but a few more golds might place them out of reach. As for total medals I think Brazil has it, thanks to swimming.
  6. Canada is more of a generalist when it comes to sports. Sure there are sports that are better for us than others, but we have a wider range than most nations. This makes us competitive in many events, but when it comes to winning gold there usually seems to be a nation (or two or three) that's better.
  7. Canada needed a late goal to beat Chile and reach the finals
  8. Even without boxing, Cuba has always been a strong week 2 at multi-sport games.
  9. I think she's been DQ'd
  10. Rodriguez saved herself from being eliminated in the heptathlon by having the furthest long jump on her third attempt.
  11. Mary Parsons leads women's golf after round 1 with a -3, obviously there's a lot more golf to play.
  12. was third in the men's 100m freestyle preliminary
  13. No changes from ISSF, the last time the qualification document was updated was July 9th so if there was a change it was pretty recent.
  14. Wikipedia still lists the October event as the qualification event and it hasn't changed on FEI, which are pretty good at keeping things updated. Are you sure it just doesn't offer world ranking points?
  15. It's listed for October and besides Group F includes non-African nations.
  16. The men were scheduled to compete so I imagine they'll take that one. The Laser/Laser Radial could have multiple nations fighting for the quota. The other "free" quotas (women's 470, women's 49erFX, mixed nacra 17) don't have any athletes that I know of.
  17. Looks like another free quota is available for Pacific nations in the women's 470. Though more likely it will be reallocated to the next highest ranked nation at the 2019 Worlds.
  18. I think Warner is safe in the decathlon (assuming he gets a mark in the javelin). Victor might catch him in the javelin (he's pretty good while Warner is pretty bad), but Warner should beat him in the 1500m. Lepage's pole vault gave him a good buffer against Victor, but he needs either a good (relative for him) javelin or a good 1500m to keep second.
  19. Pretty surprising loss by the United States, but I'll take it.
  20. Looks like the Canadian women will win a bunch of silver and bronze, potentially winning us the race for the second most medals, but also meaning we'll finish third or fourth on the medal table unless athletics and to a lesser extent women's wrestling comes up big.
  21. Argentina denying Canada a couple of golds I see...
  22. Top 5 finishers were faster than the old record
  23. I don't think it would push us out of the bottom 3 for the Olympic qualifiers (not that qualifying to the Olympics is likely for us)
  24. I imagine we'll see a few records broken here given the quality of the field relative to previous games.
