Qualification Tracker

Test

  1. It's also likely that one, if not both quotas will be declined by Argentina due to them naturally qualifying 3 or 4 athletes through the rankings. Though the other two athletes need to stay within the top 300 to be eligible.
  2. Yeah, whatever we did today with badminton, Mexico should easily counter with basque pelota. Athletics and swimming will likely determine where we finish in the top 5.
  3. Kind of wished the gap was a bit bigger, but it's still early.
  4. It helps that there are more quotas for us. In 2016 we got 31 quotas (between the Americas Championships and Pan Am Games) across 15 events while in 2020 we have 38 over 12 events. The United States can only take so many while Cuba doesn't have much depth after their top shooters.
  5. It wasn't on your list, looking at the list on FEI, it doesn't look like it
  6. Archery, canoeing, table tennis and tennis will be direct qualifiers. Athletics and swimming are eligible events to achieve the qualification time. Everything else I think offers world ranking points (not 100% sure on beach volleyball). Except handball, which either directly qualifies teams to the men's qualifier or offers ranking points which are then used to determine which teams will participate.
  7. I wonder if they'll combine Groups D and E in eventing like they do for dressage and jumping. I imagine European nations would be against it as those slots would be filled by weaker Latin American nations.
  8. Coelho should be the favourite in that final. The men's doubles could suffer an upset. The women's doubles should be fine based on how they've been playing. Regardless, we will have a better performance than in 2015.
  9. I miss when the omnium was more like the decathlon of cycling.
  10. Yeah, Canada is 8/8 in badminton all that's left to determine is the colour of the medals
  11. Then why isn't Ecuador the best nation? They can train all year
  12. Yeah, if only they had athletics during the same time instead of shoehorning it in with swimming.
  13. Russia is a clear level above the rest while China is in a middle zone where they can't really touch Russia, but is above the next group. I personally find that group to be interchangeable, but clearly the judges disagree with me.
  14. Is it better for the stronger athlete to have a worse performance for better synchronization or is it better to perform as good as possible for maximum execution points?
  15. That's a shame, would have been a good boost for the pair.
  16. It could happen, Mexico has been making good on its chances. There's still a lot to go and it could end up coming down to how many gold medals does the United States deny Brazil/Canada or how many golds does Cuba win in boxing.
  17. I can sort of understand why nations from weak continents deny their quotas, but for Europe it's a bit ridiculous. I doubt the French cycling team is so weak that they don't have anyone else that can use the quota and if not they'll drop to below the top 8 and won't qualify regardless as the European and World Championships still remain.
  18. I guess winning gold is now illegal in Canada, second most medals (33), but only four gold.
  19. Canada will likely win the team quota
  20. Yeah, this is going to be a repeat of the Commonwealth Games last year.
  21. This is Canada's second most likely event to qualify a quota, hopefully we're not the odd nation out...
  22. Technically it has been decided, just that the women are fighting back.
  23. Looks like a bunch of South African sport federations have missed their deadline for agreeing to the selection criteria. Clearly they are upset from the strict rules set in 2016.
  24. Yeah, Argentina tried really hard. Hopefully someone can qualify through the World Rankings
  25. Most likely, but I can't find results anywhere. I did find one Mexican publication that used the results from before the combined race (so Brazil got silver )
