  1. The medalists are The site isn't giving me the full results, but I imagine got one of the South American quotas...
  2. Okay, that looks better, essentially a serpentine system of 2016 plus two qualifiers at the bottom
  3. Also as a reminder, athletes must reach the MQS during the qualification round in order to be eligible. Outside of maybe women's skeet, I don't think that will be an issue.
  4. Relays are fine, but the mixed 4x100m relays are a bit redundant, especially the freestyle one, either have gendered or mixed. I think it would be more interesting to have 4x50m relays or perhaps a 4x200m medley relay
  5. How did Italy and the Netherlands get stuck in the same pool and now Israel is in it too? In fact, all three medalists from 2016 are in the same pool, someone is going to go home unhappy.
  6. There's only so much the women can do, we were last after the men went.
  7. No, based on the heats they can go any order, it's just that the top teams all went two men then two women and it looks like no one changed their strategy
  8. Nice to see all of the top teams all going with two men then two women so we know who's winning
  9. Wasn't it really necessary to have such a complicated baseball format that pushed softball to start before the games? They both could have been a six team round robin... At least softball can have some time in the sun with no competition outside of football.
  10. On one hand it essentially avoids clashing with the various World Championships, but on the other hand, I imagine many athletes (especially in athletics) in non-Olympic qualifying sports will skip the games.
  11. Correct. The one quota per NOC is a new rule, this is to prevent a few nations from hogging the continental quotas. It's a bit ridiculous that Asia still gets 5 quotas, but Kyrgyzstan will be happy.
  12. In terms of Olympic qualification, the top 2 NORCECA nations, the top 2 South American nations and the next best nation qualify to the Olympics.
  13. You can say the same thing in a bunch of other events. Finding 8 competitors/teams is hard at the continent level.
  14. Fun fact: Despite not advancing to the finals in any of the relays, Poland is currently 5/5 in terms of Olympic qualification. The only nations to have 5 relays are Australia, Germany, Russia and the United States
  15. Huge upset by Great Britain, I don't think Italy is safe either. Netherlands needs to go big against Italy to have a chance.
  16. It also comes down to money, most buyers are satisfied with the level of service (and lack of other options) and for the most part, their results aren't too terrible overall. Besides, if a nation over/underperforms they can easily claim/blame that difference on the athletes. It's just not worth their time and money to create a better table that won't differ too much. If I had all the time and money in the world I wouldn't mind giving a crack at it, but alas.
  17. It's just easier for those sites to take the top 3 from each event and construct a medal table. They would have to factor in how big of a favourite each nation would be in each event and I imagine for some events they would have little data to create a proper distribution.
  18. Here's the tentative schedule (not sure how old it is) Women's race is on Saturday while the men's race is on Sunday
  19. Well it's good that our best male swimmer is going to the final
  20. after the men's 200m back it's the women's 4x200m relay
  21. But if no one competes in it then should it be an Olympic event?
  22. It's a shame that so few nations participated. Neither Great Britain nor Italy sent a team.
  23. Yeah kind of expected it would be between Singapore and South Korea for the last spot, Portugal was likely to finish last.
  24. Equal prize money? I guess she's correct since both genders would get $0
