  1. Nevermind, it looks like Africa was eligible to use the women's K2 500m quota (Asia didn't get it apparently)
  2. Assuming three different eligible NOCs don't compete for it at the Oceania Championships then it'll go the next highest ranked eligible nation at the 2019 World Championships.
  3. While true, it would mean either Tunisia or Egypt also declined the quota
  4. Yeah, the men aren't as dominant as the women. Sure they have a ~95% chance at winning, but a bad game could lead to an upset.
  5. I imagine a country could incentivize some of the above to pick the C1 so that their athlete could qualify in K1. It wouldn't be the first time something like that happened.
  6. All they needed to do was add a rule where the quota goes to the event in which the athlete performed best in (then prioritize C1 or K1 in the event of a tie).
  7. Really? I guess technically it says that it goes to NOCs which have qualified to the road race (which France has fulfilled), but I think they also meant that they need enough places. France does have eligible track athletes that could compete in the time trial, but they do have strict eligibility criteria.
  8. The top six for the men's quotas look relatively safe (though there's lots of sailing remaining). Great to see Malta still in the running, he'll get another chance at the European qualifier given that a bunch will qualify here.
  9. Only if they finish 13th or higher in the nations ranking.
  10. So looking at the nation ranking France may have to give up its quota if they move up to 14th. At that ranking they would only get 1 athlete quota, but have two time trial quotas (15th place will have to give their quota up to fulfill the continental obligations). That would mean the quota obtained at the World Champs will be reallocated to Great Britain.
  11. will be cheering for and to qualify normally. I doubt two other nations will show up for the continent qualifiers.
  12. Yeah it'd be easier to say top two all-arounds qualify, the next two athletes will be selected in a way that maximizes their team score.
  13. Just a reminder, the host reallocation takes place after all the quotas are decided. Therefore, Ukraine can still qualify through the continental qualifier allowing it to transfer to the United States (or Mexico if the United States wins the Pan American qualifier)
  14. Hopefully one of or qualifies through the World Cup so the other won't be left out.
  15. Pretty bad championship for Canada, only one medal and no Olympic quotas.
  16. I think (and ) can still technically qualify. If qualify through the World Cup and qualifies through the Asian Championships and then qualifies through the European Championships
  17. Pretty much, at worst she'll qualify through host quota reallocation, at best she can still qualify through other means.
  18. Just as a reminder, the host quota will be reallocated after all the qualifiers are completed. It'll go to the highest ranked nation at the 2019 World Championships from a nation not yet qualified.
  19. Them qualifying in baseball/softball won't prevent other athletes from qualifying (unlike the Youth Olympics), so why not.
  20. It'll be interesting to see who the tripartite commission selects. and would prefer shooting and weightlifting respectively while already qualified normally in its preferred sport (shooting). After that they may want to go for men's archery over women's rhythmic gymnastics, which funny enough they are also competing with for. Of course, nations can win multiple tripartite quotas (I remember winning four of them in 2012, ignoring athletics and swimming)
  21. Thanks There is a real chance that 6/7 East Asian teams qualify in the women's team, leaving only Mongolia.
  22. They have to have participated in 12 eligible events
  23. I think in the end it only affected a few players. I'm not sure if Asia is going to do regional quotas again so we may see it again, but at least this time the top nations will already be qualified through the team quotas.
  24. And a men's team too. Not that it was surprising. The bigger question is which athletes will represent China.
  25. Exactly, for example in shooting an athlete can only earn one quota, but the NOC doesn't have to select them to compete.
