  1. She still competes in canoe sprint
  2. Usually New Caledonia and Tahiti dominate the swimming events so the other nations tend to struggle to win gold here.
  3. Yes, they take the 72 from the qualification round and add another 72 shot during the final round of competition.
  4. Slovenia will be next in line should Argentina/Guatemala win a quota at the Pan American Games (or if anyone declines their quota)
  5. Unsurprisingly Australia is in a great position to win the mixed team quota. The resulting men's individual quota will be interesting because the archer needs to finish in the top 4 and with the Australians and non-NOC nations there's a decent chance that may not happen which means the region will lose the quota.
  6. Where are you seeing the results? The website is poorly maintained.
  7. Correct, temporary forgot about that. I guess we know which nations Spain will be cheering for. Regardless, El Salvador likely feels pretty good, though South American nations will be cheering for El Salvador at the Pan American Games.
  8. Central & South America must be quite happy, one of their weaker nations gets to qualify now.
  9. Does that mean it counts as three competitions despite only competing once? I wonder how the Olympic ranking will handle it.
  10. To be fair, BBC and the English media are a bit biased. Pre-tournament I would have given them an outside chance at winning the cup, but their defensive performances against Japan and Norway weren't exactly, World Cup winning performances. "The good offense is a good defense" play can only take you so far.
  11. Who said that? England, while good never showed they were the second best team in the tournament. If anything, USA vs France would have been the "true final" (besides, you know, the actual final)
  12. We're missing a bunch of our top players, but to be honest, if we lose, heads will likely roll in Rugby Canada.
  13. It doesn't help that the international federations don't care about them. Imagine if they made multi-sport games a 250 level tournament. That alone would attract everyone outside of the very best and even then, I imagine some would swing by too.
  14. True, it would be best for everyone if Guatemala (or Argentina/El Salvador) qualify here and not at the Pan American Games and thus all three nations qualify.
  15. There's an additional spot in the Copa Brasil at the end of the year too. Even if Guatemala fails here, your only other competitor would be El Salvador. Sure there are other South American nations, but if you can't beat them then you don't really deserve to qualify
  16. Looking at the eligible athlete lists, both Australia and New Zealand have athletes listed to compete in archery so I imagine they will. Also listed (and have a NOC) are
  17. Also as a reminder, the Pan American Games have higher priority so should a nation win a spot in both events, the next highest ranked eligible boat here will qualify instead.
  18. This is also the reason why I feel team events are relatively useless in shooting other than to award more medals to big nations.
  19. Yeah, the whole region is quite expensive, houses may be a lot cheaper relative to Vancouver, but most of them are pushing a million dollars each.
  20. As of end of June, 46 nations have at least one athlete achieving the Olympic Qualification Time. Here are the 10 largest teams based on times (no secondary internal selections) 1. United States - 30 2. Australia - 28 2. Japan - 28 4. China - 26 5. Italy - 25 5. Russia - 25 7. Great Britain - 20 8. Brazil - 15 8. Germany - 15 8. Hungary - 15 For Japan, the 2 athlete quotas for open water swimming are included. Overall, the usual suspects are in attendance. Both Canada and France lag behind with 10 athletes each
  21. It's a bit complicated, in theory we could have a scenario where more athletes (89 per gender) than athlete quotas (86 per gender) can qualify. Now that Germany's mixed doubles athletes must also be selected for the team event, those places kind of disappear into the void
  22. I guess with the late date for the World Championships the bigger nations are putting more of a focus on athletics
  23. Today, but in a year he could drop. It's the same with Istomin at the Asian Games who was I think in the 70s at the time and is now over 100.
