  1. Tunisia is the defending champions and on a good day I wouldn't be surprised if Algeria caused an upset, plus Angola's men are starting to take this more seriously. Definitely not an easy Egypt win.
  2. What happened in the last 1.2 km? Canada was leading by 48 seconds at the last time point
  3. Big opportunity for Thailand/Kazakhstan to qualify to the Olympics. It also makes the Italy/Netherlands match all the more important.
  4. That's the reality, our continent isn't full of world class athletes like Europe. At most you are going to see a small handful of strong athletes/teams. It's no different than the Asian Games.
  5. That pretty much seals it for Canada then... Well at least we'll qualify two individuals through the rankings.
  6. To be fair, China isn't guaranteed to send a team either.
  7. Well one/two riders meeting the requirement is bad because they can take the individual quota. For India it would be best if Thailand either had 0 or 3+ riders meeting the requirements.
  8. Because if Thailand can't qualify a team they can take an individual quota meaning there will be one less spot for the region.
  9. Women's 10m platform quota either goes to Mexico or no one as it's doubtful we'll see a surprise in the final by the other eligible nations.
  10. Tough game. Was secretly hoping would win to make it easier for the Canadian women to qualify
  11. Yeah, surfing is more replay friendly thanks to editing. I don't think an event needs to be audience friendly to be in the games.
  12. Correct, for whatever reason it registered in my head that you won gold in women's 1m springboard.
  13. Here's the top 10 medal table of the 2015 Pan Ams using events already competed here. 1. Canada - 30 - 23 - 16 2. United States - 26 - 22 - 28 3. Cuba - 23 - 13 - 9 4. Colombia - 15 - 6 - 19 5. Brazil - 10 - 10 - 19 6. Mexico - 7 - 14 - 18 7. Venezuela - 3 - 12 - 8 8. Argentina - 3 - 11 - 13 9. Guatemala - 3 - 0 - 2 10. Chile - 2 - 2 - 5 Canada obviously took a hit in the gold medal column thanks to not sending its strongest team, but also suffering here are Cuba, Colombia and Venezuela. On the flip side Brazil, Mexico and Argentina are performing better, but Mexico is getting an extra boost due to the new events added to the program where they have currently won five gold medals from their current total of 17.
  14. It's also likely that one, if not both quotas will be declined by Argentina due to them naturally qualifying 3 or 4 athletes through the rankings. Though the other two athletes need to stay within the top 300 to be eligible.
  15. Yeah, whatever we did today with badminton, Mexico should easily counter with basque pelota. Athletics and swimming will likely determine where we finish in the top 5.
  16. Kind of wished the gap was a bit bigger, but it's still early.
  17. It helps that there are more quotas for us. In 2016 we got 31 quotas (between the Americas Championships and Pan Am Games) across 15 events while in 2020 we have 38 over 12 events. The United States can only take so many while Cuba doesn't have much depth after their top shooters.
  18. It wasn't on your list, looking at the list on FEI, it doesn't look like it
  19. Archery, canoeing, table tennis and tennis will be direct qualifiers. Athletics and swimming are eligible events to achieve the qualification time. Everything else I think offers world ranking points (not 100% sure on beach volleyball). Except handball, which either directly qualifies teams to the men's qualifier or offers ranking points which are then used to determine which teams will participate.
  20. I wonder if they'll combine Groups D and E in eventing like they do for dressage and jumping. I imagine European nations would be against it as those slots would be filled by weaker Latin American nations.
  21. Coelho should be the favourite in that final. The men's doubles could suffer an upset. The women's doubles should be fine based on how they've been playing. Regardless, we will have a better performance than in 2015.
  22. I miss when the omnium was more like the decathlon of cycling.
  23. Yeah, Canada is 8/8 in badminton all that's left to determine is the colour of the medals
  24. Then why isn't Ecuador the best nation? They can train all year
