Laegreid 20/20 and that's the gold medal.

I mean if that's the compromise... I'm OK with that. Because from the position of a TV viewer - what's the difference if he watches the cycler being in Paris or the avatar of the cycler in a virtual Paris? The same emotions, in fact I have the same emotions watching TdF, Zwift e-cycling and Jelle's Marbles (especially with Savage Speeders). To be honest - 6 hours of TdF for three weeks is much more tiring.
From the perspective of a viewer in place - is it better to see a guy speeding 50 km/h once an hour or to watch him fighting all the time from... let's say something like cinema, maybe even with popcorn and cola.
From the perspective of a journalist - what does one lose if he watches both, real and virtual version, from his place on media tribune? Or IBC. Or studio in his company's HQ, because he was not chosen to go to Tokyo/Paris/LA?
From the perspective of an athlete - what does it change for him if the simulator he works on is so close to reality?
You know, what I've learned from e-cycling Worlds this year? That I was so fucking right about the "best" cyclers winning everything thanks to their less ambitious teammates' job only. "The best" lost to some anonymous (for me) names when it was all about just individual racing on the same device - it means, in the equal conditions.
Cycling is a team sport - not an individual like it appears to be. The strenght of your helpers is more important. The only true individual event is the time trial.

JTB loses to QFM by 0,6!

JTB 18/20 and no gold for him.

Florent Claude 15/15
But he's way too slow on skis to win it even with 20/20 IMO.

I can not even remember the last time I watched biathlon on ES. Always on Czech TV, these folks really love biathlon, I mean really love.
They also show almost everything from the wnter sports season so I basically switch to our TV only for Alpine Skiing and ice hockey, otherwise I have almost all the time ČT Sport turned on my TV
In Poland we had two guys who used to do cycling in the summer and biathlon in the winter for ES. After Polsat Sport bought the rights on the heels of 2013-15 Polish women success one of those guys went there to join Weronika Nowakowska and Tomasz Sikora joined Eurosport. I have to say the old pairing was the best even though they focused on off-course action a lot (like the color of women's eye-lashes or new boots or rifles). Sikora tends to provide more background information like what does the housing looks like in different venues or other stuff. I quit watching ARD coverage like 5 years ago and I'm back to the oldest source in Eurosport for good

Another error for Jakobssen! Sweden gifts the gold away! How the hell you lose on red course?
-
Re-run is a BAD idea for Norway since Jakobssen had a terrible time. Norway don't know what they're doing!
-
Slow winning time for Stjernesud. I'd say advantage Sweden.
Jakobssen even slower after mistake. Solevaag blew it alltogether.
-
Bissig too slow by 0,12 and Germany wins bronze.
-
-
Norway beats Switzerland by 0,02
Red course is visibly quicker now.
-
Sweden dumps out Austria. Roenngren as the weak link didn't cost them.
-
Jeffrey Read blows it for Canada. into SF.
-
Marcin Szafranski recalled that win too but couldn't remember the Belgian's name
-
Honkkanen led for 90% of the course and lost. This is where Finland blew their chance.
-
Della Mea with the first crash today
And she looks injured...

Course seems much better today ... so far ...
20 second course.... and no mandatory gaps in Team Event that really killed the parallel.
Americans only through on total time.

Sorry, I read the article incorrect. Thanks for the correction.
On countback Wierer would have won it anyway, her individual results are 1st, 4th & 9th. Hauser's are 1st, 4th & 38th so she got lucky with the stupid cut-off rule.

To be fair they are both sitting in separate locations in Scotland and commenting off the screen, so they are not always able to work together the way they normally do. There’s already been a few races this year when they couldn’t contact at all & someone in ES Paris has had to take over.
Winterton missed like 95% of the women's sprint and only joined the broadcast right at the end. However it takes a lot of skill to notice Egan 15/15 and miss Davidova 15/15 who was leading the damn race However you can get carried away in the booth, Polish ES commentator in alpine skiing spend the majority of Kira Weidle's DH run talking about Thomas Dressen's DH medal chances and came back to Weidle 5 secs. before the finish when he suddenly realized she can win a medal too
5 minutes ago, RobtheAggie said:I do agree, that even with my Egan bias, the producer and commentators had a hard time today.
Hauser and Weirer tie on points for the Crystal Globe, with it going to Hauser.
Egan and Dunklee were in the provisional start list for the Mass start, but Egan has now been replaced for the time being.
Actually both Wierer & Hauser won the small globe together

Definitely concerned about the “physical virtual sports.” I assume they’re referring to the likes of eCycling and Indoor Rowing there. I don’t dislike those as disciplines, but they’re not nearly developed, nor legitimate enough, to have earned a spot on the Olympic program yet.
At least with the Winter Olympics there’s an abundance of quotas (comparative to the Summer Olympics). My guess is that Bobsleigh and Skiing will still tough cuts, unless the IOC is just willing to add some more women’s quotas, then everything might be okay for the time being.
Norway will never let that happen. They rule FIS and IOC can't afford to alienate the biggest winter sport nation. Forget about any cuts in cross country skiing.
eSports is the new black. I told ya, the 2028 SOG in Los Angeles is perfect time to introduce this crap into Olympic fold.

I'd normally gladly listen to former biathlete Herbert Cool's Dutch commentary, but I'm not as happy about it anymore since he blocked me on Twitter due to sometimes sending a question (which he generally asks for during the broadcasts) and sending in some possibly interesting tidbits which, according to him, couldn't be fact checked (yeah not sure if Baiba Bendika having a new rifle was in any news article, but since she was the source herself, I'm assuming she's correct). Too bad.
German TV is excellent, but sadly I can't watch that on-demand without going though possible major spoilers, so Eurosport Player with the Brits it is
But yeah. Not great.
ARD/ZDF used to always run a special German-only feed and I got tired of that many moons ago so I don't watch biathlon there anymore. I'm fine with ES though either Polish or English crew tend to annoy me from time to time and I switch them. Going with the English guys today was a BAD choice
So, you have a quick line to Baiba Bendika news?

Commentators missing Hauser screwing up by missing the 19th and 20th shot, TV director missing Wierer taking the lead, what a mess
Then you're still before the Egan over Davidova brain freeze

The winning cyclists actually share the prize money between the team? I've read several interviews when the cyclists say it's a common practice.
Obviously you can't divide the medals. Like when El Guerroudj only won the 1,500 gold in Athens after one of his teammates was sacrificed as pacemaker.
