In women's, Mayan Oliver finished 19th which gives her an edge over Tamara Vega for that second quota that can be achieved trough ranking (both are right now in qualifying positions) Our men however will need a miracle to qualify; our best ranked Duilio Carrillo only finished 25th and will need at least top 15 places in both World Cup stages in Bulgaria and the WC final to be in Tokyo.

Well done Donovan While not a flawless skate, he never fell and maintained control and energy all trough his program and earned a new PB in both FP and total score Now he can’t finish lower than 20th at worlds, quite proving he deserves a place in Bejing, when I hope he can finally break that 210.00 in total score.

Before Sochi it was a general winter sports federation, and only ice hockey had a separate body. Now we have an independent ski federation which is also overseeing biathlon; in fact those two athletes are former cross country competitors, so I’m guessing the plan is to continue looking for talents in the later and select one or two of them for biathlon

Well they could always get worse, after all those guys are already thirty something. But let's hope the national federation starts recruiting new talents for Biathlon races in the future.

Well, biggest suprise of the day is José Alvarez Muñoz going into QF @hckošice It will be an interesting match between him and always unpredictable Luis Álvarez. Though luck for Argentina @konig, as Jajarabilla fought well but in the end Soto's experience gave him the win. Still, I think this guy might be one to follow in coming years.
