  1. No ideas for tripartite yet, but it seems Malawi and even Yemen are sending male competitors to the World Cup stages in Europe, so most probably they are front contenders. as for favorites, too close to call. We’re talking about a sport in which mental strength and weather can severely affect the outcome. So once the next World Cup stage is completed and once I see team compositions for the direct eliminations, I could name my favorites.
  2. This is a real sad one (at least for me) Benjamin Auffret, Diving, announced his retirement last week. I was hoping for him to get a medal in Tokyo after being so close in Rio. Sadly, this also means the French delegation will likely have one less athlete in Tokyo, as he was his only diver in platform since Rio, unless the federation decides to send some inexperienced replacement.
  3. Yes they have, and they should have some home field advantage. However in both cases won’t be easy, as the men knock out have at least 8 teams with a similar level. Yet I expect the French to be one of the 3 survivors in both genders
  4. First stage of Archery World Cup ended today in Guatemala City. A reduced field in most events, but athletes from 3 continents were present, among them most of the main contenders for the remaining team quotas at the Olympics. But let's start with Compound, where the won gold medals in women's team and men's individual, adding 3 bronzes to their count. Two other American nations obtained gold: in women's individual, but this time through Nora Valdez instead of Sara López, while Mexico took the men's team title, and a couple of silvers in women's & mixed team events. It could have been a complete swept by the host continent, but Danes Stephan Hansen & Tanja Gellenthien hit a dozen 10's in a row to defeat the Mexicans in the final match. Now, regarding recurve individual events, Atanu Das & Deepika Kumari took the top spot in the podium, with Mexico taking both bronze medals (Ángel Alvarado & Alejandra Valencia); Daniel Castro from earned two medals, silver in individuals and a team Gold, while Mackenzie Brown once again was the best US women also earning silver. Now, talking about the men team competition, as said previously the spanish squad took the first position, and showing a good form after sending out a couple of tough rivals (India and the French, who ended in 4th) before a rather quick win against Ellison & Co, with Germany achieving the bronze. All those four, plus a few others that were either early eliminated or just absent, are to be taken seriously in contention for a chance to be in Tokyo, but I´ll wait until next stop to predict any outcome. On the women's side, India's and Mexico's teams showed a better form that the rest of their competitors, and in my opinion are early frontrunners to win two of those Olympic spots; both fought a close final, if at the end, a better concentration favored the Asian side. However one should not discount (again losing against their German neighbors in the 3rd place match). or the to improve on their way to the final qualification tournament in Paris.
  5. Archery WA World Cup 2021 Multi-Stage Event - 20 April 2021 - 2 September 2021 Official Website Programme Results System Results Database Facebook Page Discussion Thread
  6. If World Archery isn't kidding, the World qualification tournament will be held before last World Cup stage, so that means no Russians, Koreans, Brits, etc, which better the chances of both squads.
  7. Well that makes more sense. Román has totally lost her form. Still I think both teams should be rather safe for Olympic qualification. The other ticket should be contested between , , &
  10. So not exactly the best for the major sporting event, unless they add some places right?
  11. Well I’m not very comfortable with this question as it involves Aussie slang, which is really weird. If it was to me, I would discard Malt as it is the only “proper” word among the options. And Grenad just seems like it’s missing a vowel, so not quite Australian. I’d either pick A or D
  12. It is ridiculous to call it a competition when it's a 8-9 team direct knock-out, as opposed to the former system with pools, then knock outs, which I'd love to see reinstated at least at World Cup level.
  13. Well, both Djokovic and Nadal (not to say Federer who unfairly is still top 10) are in time to retire after this irregular season and still maintain some dignity. I mean, both are in her mid thirties, as am I.
  14. Sorry to hear it. I really hope he gets the appropiate treatment and gets better. A former boss of mine had it, and yes, and from what I saw, it´s not a pleasant surprise.
  15. Wow, what a meltdown for Mie Skov
  16. These are the chosen ones for Mexican delegation the Opening Ceremony
  17. I honestly believe that with this idiotic quota reduction it´s time for team competitions to abandon the program. When you actually see that between 5-8 fencers in each weapon and gender will only be in Tokyo because they´re needed to fill a quota for a team (the one's with continental / host places in particular), and some very competent individuals being left out because of that ridiculous 8 team "competition", then you should left space for more countries to send their best, respecting the 3 per country for those powerhouses that can actually qualify them.
  19. Count me as an expert
  20. Missed oportunity for Carrillo to better his position in the ranking. Nevertheless, 3 Mexicans should be qualified for World Cup final in each gender, so if they give an extra effort they could practically be in Tokyo.
  21. Wanna submit an appeal on legal grounds @OlympicIRL? Just kidding Congratulations for the win @intoronto Great result @Belle & @OlympicIRL
  22. Me too, I would have liked it better an audio only version.
  23. Wow Another exciting finish, point by point.
