  1. Is I recall correctly from the Olympic reports, gymnastics and fencing started reducing the number of competing teams in the 70's. Tennis draws after reintroduction were limited in the single & double draws for a maximum Apart from wrestling, I think also archery & boxing had qualifications for Atlanta. I think that he first edition in which every sport had their number of competitors capped by a qualification system was Athens.
  2. And one of the most enthusiastic among the Argentinian delegation at Guadalajara 2011 PanAm Games. I remember chatting with her and a couple other athletes during Men's Hockey final, and then she along same companions plus some others, were really partying after the Closing Ceremony.
  3. Well, like I've said, it was an afternoon well spent, down memory lane and the GIF button @Quasit thanks for your work, I'll need to have a third run after I hope many others have their own.
  4. Only when my sanity is more important the result... why pondering too much, as I'm only having a great time.
  5. Thank you for the answer @toulousain Well, hard to decide at this turning point, but again I'll take my chance and say the answer is A: Rotterdam
  6. @toulousain could you help me with this one, please? Merci beaucoup.
  7. Had not have used it before, the 50-50 lifeline would have been very useful. The only one I discarded right away is Helsinki, as I don't recall the Finns being too keen to gamble. Now Brugge I've heard is beautiful, but probably too small and random for such event. So, it will be between Rotterdam & Geneva... I'm inclined to say the Dutch city wins, but I'll have to ask an expert to clear any doubts. Which one of them remains online @Quasit
  8. I couldn't fail another question about the Habsburg Empire. It would have been too stressful for the remaining of my afternoon.
  9. Tricky, tricky But using my history & cinema knowledge, and a dose of my own logic, I think Béla is a distinctive Hungarian name. Given that back in the day, the Austro-Hungarian Empire ethnic distribution pretty much followed the administrative divisions between the two realms, Czechia Austria and that Ukrainain strip of land belonged to the German dominated realm. Hungary on the other hald, lost a lot of land and still has a sizable minority in Romania, so being satisfied with equalizing my previous run, I go with option A
  10. Well, it’s not worth risking another lifeline at this point. And as my last educated guess would have proven effective, this in part educated and “I throw myself at the mercy of luck”, with the other, then my answer is D: Tamil Nadu
  11. If I had to choose, it would be Citroen
  12. And what nostalgia gives, nostalgia takes. Going for the next lifeline: Swap
  13. Back with the nostalgia theme, great Back at 95 I was very invested in football as was any other boy in Mexico, particularly because the main kids show was Captain Tsubasa So, being so much interested in the topic, I remember the prize that year was to George Weah, which also made me look out for Liberia in the World map. Answer is then, letter B
  14. And the lifeline worked as I was dubious between A & D, but with this now I’m 99% sure Answer A: Frog
  15. I see we’re getting serious First lifeline please: 50-50
  16. Well, I'm feeling confident so yes.
  17. Well, I'll try to not mess up. But I'm mostly sure that the legendary Material Girl, is a native of Michigan, USA. That of course is Option A
  18. Wow, I'm mostly feeling a little nostalgia with these throwback questions. But the first time I actually invested a great deal of time following the Olympics was back in 2000, when Karelin was shocked by Roulon Gardner in their Wrestling final. So answer's is none other but option B
  19. Sadly, I only crossed trough Bratislava in my way from Prague to Budapest
  20. Wow, I really loved that question, because it remembers me of my Eurotrip some years ago. I was kind of sad I didn't have enough time to visit each country in the EU, especially the one that had just adopted the Euro as its currency. And that's non other than B: Slovakia (or could it be Slovenia )
  21. Glad I like old movies. That person is none other than Elia Kazan, so letter C
