  6. Congratulations Italy @Pablita @Gianlu33 @Henry_Leon @SteveParker! Your song was fantastic and it's very rare that I end up giving my 12 points to the eventual winner so happy days for me as well!

Congratulations @vinipereira For organising a brilliant contest and grand final, especially having to keep up with scoreboards and team scores/power plays, very impressed!

What is the deal with UEFA/FIFA: only England can obtain the quota, right? And in case they qualify, who will be eligible for GB, only English players?

For Football only England can gain the quota (like Scotland in Curling) and at the moment the other home nations are happy for English players to form a GB team without needing any players from Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland to join the squad. This only applies to women's football, there will not be a GB men's team competing.

    it's like in 2016...

at the previous world cup only France and Germany did qualify directly because they went further than any other European team...

then there were 2 or more teams that were eliminated in the same round of the world cup...among those teams, the best 4 (according to the fifa world ranking) did play a tournament for the last Olympic spot (last time the tournament was held in the Netherlands between NED, SWE, NOR and SUI and SWE went on to win it and did qualify for Rio 2016, where they also won a medal)...

basically, if 3 teams can't be separated by reaching a different stage at the 2019 world cup, then a tournament between the best 4 ranked teams in the fifa world ranking reaching the highest stage of WC will play for the remaining spot(s)...

For 2016 3 teams would have qualified as France, Germany and England were the only 3 European teams to reach the quarterfinal. The tournament was because the British federations could not agree to send a team, for Tokyo 2020 this has been resolved so if the same happened this time GB would accept their quota.

end of super saturday for india .... 8 golds , 5 silver and 4 bronze ........ India a clear third on the medal charts ..a huge 10 golds ahead of SA/CAN... In fact I feel Englands total gets inflated because of 16 extra events in swimming compared to the olympics( a huge 50 events in swimming )  and 10 extra track cycling events ( a ridiculous 20 events in cycling )  ..... and - (6) standard events in Greco roman wrestling and ( -3 ) events in olympic shooting ... if we had played with a standard olymic events in all sports with 2-3 extra events which I would  consider normal ...  India would have at least 8-9 extra golds and England at least 6-7 less golds which would have made India almost reaching england ....... But I believe we must take the white mans burden :d.... In the next games They plan to drop shooting altogether and add a a few more non standard events in swimming/ cycling  I am sure to ensure they stay ahead ......

Maybe Canada and SA  also may catch up........... :yes ( to all the canadians in the forum )

England only won 3 gold medals in track cycling and only 1 gold in a non-Olympic swimming event. If you are talking about the para events in track cycling and swimming then England won 4 gold medals in them but they are a very important part of the event programme now.

  10. I think tomorrow could be crucial in deciding who tops the medal table, if England have an excellent day in Gymnastics, Cycling, Swimming and Table Tennis then we can close the gap and keep the contest alive. Otherwise if Australia were to win the race walks, further dominate Swimming and Cycling and England were to miss their chances in Gymnastics then the gap may become too large.

Where on earth does Tuvalu or Montserrat even find 7 athletes? :d

Not a clue, there are some funny stories in the teams though!

Imo Fiamalua (Tuvulu's Javelin Thrower) has 4 caps for the National Football Team and scored for the Tuvulu Futsal team at the Oceanian Championships.

Montserrat have even managed to enter 6 athletes into the 4x100m Relay, which means 1 in every 980 people in Montserrat will be competing in their relay team!

  12. All team sizes added to the first page.

Australia as hosts will have the largest team of 474, with England (396) and Canada (282) rounding out the top 3 largest delegations.

Gambia with 6 athletes has the smallest team as it was only allowed to compete a few days ago, both Tuvalu and Montserrat with 7 athletes each have the other smallest teams. Brunei who only had 1 athlete in 2014, has 10 in 2018 who will all compete in Lawn Bowls.
