They do not. I’ll question the integrity of any government, it’s my job as a person.

I do, and more people should. History is looking more like wants to repeat itself. Learning about genocides should be required in every country. I would also say that the remaining family members and friends of those killed still do.

I do, it’s a very interesting conflict. Again more people should be aware of what’s happened and what’s happening still.

You're in a complete minority. America cares more about Trump's tweets than anything else. History repeats itself since forever. Nobody and I mean nobidy cares about the Srebrenica massacre anymore. Stop fooling yourself. Sweden is viewed as the progressive leader of the world, they have this gender equality and Greta Thunberg. This is what the world cares about now so of course the Noble committee will give an award to someone who denies the Srebrenica massacre. Greta Thunberg is more important than those Bosnian families. It's really that simple :dunno:

  2. No drama here. They awarded him the Nobel Prize despite all the knowledge so it's obvious they don't give a damn. Plus Sweden is such a nice & liberal country. How dare you question their integrity? They support the Muslim immigrant movement and all that. Truly, who gives a damn about the Srebrenica genocide anymore? Nobody. There's a War in Donbas going on right now and nobody gives a damn either. It's called global politics and the Nobel committe fits right in. These awards have been nothing but politics for a long while now :dunno:

  3. That's the thing, Molina is a has-been and has been (sic!) used as well known name put on Hrgovic's resume. Hrgovic will go nowhere stopping the punches with his face. He can bully old timers like Molina but that's a suicidal tactics against the top fighters. He's got a long way to go but of course hype will be relentless anyway.

Yeah......until you decide to check out some of the Russian sports news websites where the cross-country sections have a laser focus on Norway that's nothing compared to the focus in the big bad west on Russia :p

Norway has symbicort approved as legal. Give me a call when at least one Norwegian who doesn't have asthma wins a World Cup race. Just one! I won't watch it myself since like I've said before, I have zero interest in the Norwegian national champs presented by Symbicort.

Yep, just like the more east you go the more people start to bitch about Norwegians. It's how it is, I prefer to not care too much about it and just like (or not) athletes. Don't like Johaug, do like Klaebo. Don't like Ustiugov, do like Bolshunov.

The most bitching about the Norwegians is probably up in Sweden which isn't East but North :sure:

But there are plenty of resorts, which are capable of having two courses. That is not the problem. It's just FIS doesn't want to invest that much in this event for some reason. I personally like it very much. Plus the norwegians will dominate every event either way. Better have some variety. :p

We haven't gone through the "Tour de Ski favors freestyle" mess yet :raspberry:  There is zero chance FIS allows any kind of variety that threatens the Norwegian dominance IMO.

Bolshunov brings me excitement, so yes way Jose. No, not among a majority of people - it doesn't help that a majority of people is so nation-focussed instead of athlete-focussed.

Yeah, you probably missed the anti-Russian hoopla over the last few years? The further West the bigger it gets. Every single Russian athlete is suspicious these days. I bet there are thousands of Nordic sports fans who only wait until Bolshunov gets caught and banned too

Skiathlon should be in more events during the season. At least 3-4 for me, we don't need a sprint and 15k in every round.

You need two courses for this though. And then watch the bitching about the classic speciallists being screwed due to the course being too easy. Just too much trouble for the organizers while at the end of the day those poor sick Norwegians will still dominate. Why bother? Bolshunov represents the wrong country for anyone to get excited about him :p

Look, all I’m saying is that I do communications for job (and will continue to do so in my professional career). It’s my job to know the audience, and know how to use language. Sometimes you just have to be smarter than that, even if you think it’s okay. I don’t think should’ve been fired (that’s clearly an overreaction). It should have been turned into a lesson about being more careful on air.

Bullshit. Liberals in the USA just love playing the race card, everyone who makes an "error of judgement" is automatically dismissed as racist and should be erased from people's memory. It's the right of way in the American society right now.

It's somewhat unfortunate that two MVP front runners right now are black. Russell Wilson is the most underrated QB in the league but the liberals are silent because they can't belittle a black QB as opposite to Jackson's hype. If Jackson was duelling with the likes of Brady or Bress then all bets would be off. Then again, Wilson can be shipped out the same way Jay Z was when he was accused by Kaepernick of selling out the black cause. Every God damn thing in America is political these days, guess the minorities are getting back for Jim Crow laws and whatever else. I'm just waiting until "Wendy's" brand gets shut down as "sexist" or "misogynist" or whatever else. That would put the icing on the cake

Clearly California has the best weather, but yes Florida and Texas are nice too :p. I don’t actually mind the cold though. Does it suck, yes. Does it stop me from going about my day, not really. I could absolutely see how people could find the cold unlivable though, so fair point. Maybe I should add Climate to that list above.

I specifically excluded California from the list due to state taxes. Nobody would want to live in Sacramento when you get zero SoCal beaches and 100% of their taxes. Texas & Florida have zero income state tax - instant winner.

For someone so glued to climate change excluding weather from rating people's happiness is a criminal mistake :p You could pay the entire population of Canada millions to move to Yukon full-time and they would still reject it IMO :raspberry:

Fun little report. Tomorrow the UN tells us who’s the happiest at the end of the decade. My money is one :SUI:NOR:DEN or :IRL.

The UN measured the wrong qualities though. I prefer a combination of stats such as “The Good Country Index”, World Freedom Ranking, Suicide Rate, Homicide Rate, and Economic Satisfaction.

You forgot one thing - warm weather. Suicide rate & economic satisfation feel slightly less important when your butt freezes cold 99% of the time and reindeers could be your pet animals at home. I'm sure as hell Texas & Florida are more friendly to live in than Wyoming or North Dakota too

Once again a rather simplistic analysis.

No doubt money plays a major role and no, you can't really create a strong campaign without big money, but money isn't all. Money can put your message into the world, but if you don't have the message, you won't get anything. We've seen plenty of rich candidates getting no results.

No doubt the massive fund raising job by Gifford and co. gave Obama an advantage, but he didn't get it just due to the money.

So what is Trump's message then? USA Rules and everyone can #### off? :p

Millionaires (or better, billionaires) controlling a lot of businesses are those who profit the most from being involved in politics, it's very naive to think that they are not in for the money, and Trump is no exception. And only his fanboys could say that he's honest about himself, he's a world class liar ffs.

Every politician is a liar. It doesn't matter if he's a world class at it. Look at the UK which is supposedly one of the most established democracies in the world. Boris Johnson is a world class liar too yet Tory will probably win the next elections anyway. Nobody expects the politicians to say the truth, nobody.

If that's what you think, without giving any sort of alternative or whatever (and just keep saying 'this sucks'), ok, noted :)

Authoritarianism is better than democracy. Sadly it's being viewed as a communism spin-off while it can be very different.

  14. 1 minute ago, heywoodu said:

Again, I only see "This system is shit", but apparently there's no alternative that's less bad? I'd prefer the least of the bad options then.

And no, Trump is possibly not in it for the money (although one can very seriously doubt that), he's mostly in it to glorify himself, which is arguably worse.

You're biased and set to defend the liberal democracy until the bitter end. That's your choice but it's not mine.

Huh? There's actually something worse than a corrupt politician in charge? Trump doesn't give any fucks and it doesn't matter the social media crusaders pretend they know better. Trump is no different than Grant or Eisenhower who cashed in their military career to glorify themselves even more. Hell, the astronaut John Glenn run for President too. US politics is full of these bozos who want to pamper their ego so it's old news.

Instead of just always bitching about everything, let's try and be constructive: you have something better in mind? Because communism sure as hell isn't, a totalitarian regime most definitely isn't, anarchy even less so.

I don't bitch about everything, I just say democracy can be controlled in authoritarian ways like these many political famliy clans prove. If you're stealing something you might as well call yourself a thief, not someone else. The problem is, democracy in a federal country like USA or Germany is different than in the republican system which is majority. Actually having a millionaire like Trump as Head of State isn't a bad idea, you can be sure he's not into politics for money which is the main reason most of these lawyers or whatever enter politics in first place. The days of ideallists are gone. Having people like Obama or Trump as Presidents is a good thing, Obama's personality was very bland but he had zero political support and was literally the guy from nowhere. It's not the system that needs to be changed since every political system is about money. I said before politicians, journalists & the clergy want to control the masses. It's a never-ending back & forth struggle. If they want to control you what's the difference whether you live in democracy or authoritarian system? How many people really feel a difference between Trump being a President or some life-long politician? They don't since the federal system covers the daily life more than a person in the White House. USA is tied to loans & mortgage payments no matter who's in charge. How many US citizens actually own the houses they live in? How many people are still paying off student loans like 20 years after they graduated? And this is you ideal democratic world where you're tied to a 30 year old credit loan? Really?

Funny how that works out. Bushs, Clintons, Roosevelts, Kennedys, etc. You might be right on this one. And now I can only think Don Jr. being president . Thanks for that horrifying thought :p

Communism was supposed to be about giving power to the people. That's an obvious fraud. Democracy has the monarchy gene stuck to its core and hell, all the names you've mentioned prove it. You can create a mini monarchy to expose how democracy can actually be controlled in authoritarian fashion. Donald Trump might be a jerk but he's pretty honest about himself. He's a member of the lucky sperm club and he's honest enough to say that. There's nothing honest about the Bushes or the Clintons. Nothing! They want to have their family in power, whether state-wide or nation-wide. I'd never vote for these morons.

And Trump has one huge advantage over the rest. He's got enough money to fund his own campaign. Kamala Harris just dropped out of the race because she's got no money. So much for her progressive ideas and all that fancy talk. If you ain't got money and you can't convince people to give you theirs, you're done in the political landscape. Where does the democracy fill in here? The person with the biggest cashbox is supposedly the best candidate or elected President democracy can come up with? Really? Forget how Obama was the new craze, he actually still had to have the biggest funds to become the craze.

So here is your democratic thought of the day: the person with the biggest cashbox still laughs the loudest in the end. All the global Empires or kingdoms have fallen over the centuries and it's still all about the money. Hail to the democracy! :sure:

Macron was unfortunately the best candidate in the French election (much, much, much better than LePen). Trudeau is fine, he’s not done much from my understanding. Johnson’s just as bad as Trump. When Trudeau is the best the big 4 have to offer, things aren’t looking good.

When politics becomes a family run business things are downright pathetic. The ballyhooed democracy was supposed to banish the family run politics aka monarchy. And then we have someone like Trudeau whose best value is his last name. The more things change the more they stay the same. Power is the ultimate drug.
