  1. WA is a bit lenient with the MQS towards developing nations.
  2. Yes the African Games doubles as the continental qualifier
  3. That's not how the host quota gets reallocated
  4. I think technically the host quota goes to and then the declined athlete quota eventually goes to . Regardless we have the same result.
  5. No unless another boat declined the quota
  6. At least the policy is a bit more fair than in 2016 where all continental quotas were declined, regardless of whether or not the athlete was competitive.
  7. The host quota would go to the next highest ranked nation in the K1 1000m, it does not get added to the pool of quotas. The above table looks correct, kind of wished ICF was more clear about the host quota.
  8. Yeah, I suspect that to be true. I was secretly hoping none of their canoeists finish in qualification position, but based on the heats they will likely qualify in the K1 1000m. Hopefully they officially decline the quota in a quick manner.
  9. I don't think the above is true. There's no way we can get six K1 200m boats. The only way for Sweden to qualify would be if Spain declines its quota. Likewise, how does Russia get a quota in the K2 (outside of Spain outright denying the K2 boat)?
  10. I don't think so... Men's kayak only had one reallocation quota and it went to Belarus. Only way for him to get the quota would be if three nations ahead of him declined their quota which at this point is very unlikely to have occurred.
  11. Canada may not be at the top of the judo world, but they are on pace to send one of the larger teams to the Olympics, including currently having a team for the team event. I'd classify them as a "second tier" nation in judo, definitely not on the tier of Japan/Brazil/Russia etc.
  12. In terms of Olympic qualification, all the one person Olympic boats and the Men's C2 1000m will give Olympics quotas. Additionally, despite competing at the African Games, are not eligible to win a quota due to not competing at the World Championships. We also need a minimum of three eligible nations to compete which based on the start lists is fine so hopefully there aren't any mass withdrawals.
  13. Yes are eligible to qualify.
  14. You need to compete in 12 tournaments to be eligible.
  15. I imagine Group F nations may focus on their qualifier rather than the Nations Cup
  16. The easy answer is that the top boat in all non-K4 events will qualify from the Asian qualifier. The long answer is that each nation can only qualify a maximum of two athlete quotas in each category (men's kayak/women's kayak/men's canoe/women's canoe) and a nation can only qualify in one K1 event (regardless of whether or not it was done by two athletes). Also athletes which qualified a quota at the World Championships are not eligible to qualify at the Asian qualifier and a nation cannot attempt to qualify in an event they already qualified in. Using the results from the 2018 Asian Games here is a preview of the favourites (assuming nations prefer 2 athlete quotas over 1) M K1 200m - M K1 1000m - Not held M K2 1000m - M C1 1000m - M C2 1000m - W K1 200m - W K1 500m - W K2 500m - W C1 200m - W C2 500m -
  17. Ukraine has two athletes in the K4 qualified in other events (one in K1 200m and the other in K2 500m)
  18. The wording says that we only move to the next boat size when we are unable to fill the previous boat size. In the 's case we don't as we only need one quota. Of course, this wouldn't be the first time where what is written and what they actually meant is different.
  19. Also shouldn't Sweden have a K1 500m quota thanks to reallocations? 10 athlete quota reallocations -4 (K4 500m) -3 (K4 500m) -2 (K2 500m) -1 (K1 500m)
  20. But they were the next best nation and happen to only need one quota. Just like Denmark only needed three quotas for the women's K4 500m. The only difference is that there were more quotas to be given. Whether this is what the ICF intended is hard to say.
  21. Yeah as Martin Fuksa already qualified in the C1, I think the Czech Republic gets the extra quota for the C2 quota... Really hope the ICF clarifies soon.
  22. To be fair, that was AIBA's fault for not doing gender equality properly. The IOC fixed that
  23. The top 4 continents in the K4 need to be represented. This is done through the World Championships The three best continents (minus Europe) will get a spot to qualify in the K2/C2 events at their respective continental qualifier For K1/C1 events all continents will have a qualifier at the continental level.
  24. No because they can only qualify two athlete quotas, though an athlete which qualified in the C2 can compete in C1
