  1. No way they're moving the NA races before the Thanksgiving weekend IMO. Early December dates in Europe were also often compromised, it just so happens that most countries have the best winter conditions around the same time. You can stage races in March in the arctic parts of Sweden, Finland and Norway. As for expanding the calendar, well, as long as Shiffrin doesn't retire US TV might be interested in carrying the coverage. If only she hangs it up then I can see a World Cup calendar with zero NA races.

  2. Will this be another Maribor-like annual shitshow? I assume they counted on late October/early November being suitable to have snow at such high altitude but if this doesn't work there's like no other place to put this on calendar given how Wengen is locked and St. Moritz would be unwilling to move around. And they won't throw the North American races to March like it was in the 80s.

  3. Playoff groups:

    Group A: Portugal / Cameroon / Thailand

    Group B: Chile / Senegal / Haiti

Group C: Panama / Paraguay/ Chinese Taipei / Papua New Guinea

Anyway, two hosts got very favorable groups but New Zealand can crash out versus the two UEFA teams for sure, Sweden & Germany got the easiest groups among the top teams. Given the underwhelming Netherlands performance lately, Portugal is not without a chance to cause an upset if they win their playoff match.

  4. Was about to post it. That is quite a flop from Halep who ended her season after USO due to having a nosejob. Yeah, it's more sinister than that. It also explains why Mouratoglou suddenly started working with Holger Rune. Big story in WTA who doesn't need any more bad news but they got it anyway.

  5. :POL Szczepan Kupczak had called it a career. He will focus on being the head coach of women's ski jumping team from now on. This leaves Polish NC with two active senior athletes at international level - Andrzej Szczechowicz and Pawel Szyndlar (who picked up some cheap points FIS points last March by attending Continetal Cup in Park City and Lake Placid where she finished dead last in all four starts  ).

she's never gone missing...too much publicity on her case to make her disappear like any non-famous girl.

but she's in a lot of troubles for sure.

I doubt she's gonna have the chance to compete on the international scene anymore.

I also read that her brother has been jailed, too...but I'm not so sure it's true. :mumble:

Yeah, I also think she won't compete internationally after this one. Well, the Iranian society made their move in 1979 and they're still paying the bills for it.

Does it imply that if mass shooting more and more often, random people die regularly, then it's no longer newsworthy, people are getting numb, media move on to the next catching topic. Ultimately it's a new normality which people have to embrace and need no more attention or report. If so, I would rather beating someone is continuously remaining as big news because I don't want to see it as new normality.

Anything anti-Chinese is more newsworthy in the Western media  And yeah, mass shootings have become so common nobody cares about that unless the victim count is at least in double digits or there are children involved.
