Elon Musk supports those fake voting in the annexed regions of Ukraine? Another multi-billionaire who has no idea what's going outside of his bank account. What a frickin' idiot.

So close for
They should be the favourites against any team, but a bad game can kill their chances.
I double checked the bracket. It's almost guaranteed they will be the highest FIFA ranking team so they will be seeded and play only one match to qualify. Chinese Taipei, Chile and Thailand are the next three highest ranked teams and one of them will also get to play only one match.

beat
1-0 so they also qualify.
goes to the inter-continental play-offs where they will be huge favorites to advance anyway (two groups of 5 teams, winners will qualify).

beats
3-2.
Poor match from Mihajlovic but Boskovic and Stevanovic carried them to victory.

First two UEFA play-off finals are over.
beat
2-1 after extra time and have qualified. They dominated the match but only scored in 120th minute after a missed penalty and another goal ruled for offside by VAR. Wales had one shot on goal all match.
beat
4-1 after extra time (Iceland down to ten players since 55th minute).
This means
will qualify if they beat
. If that match goes to penalties then Portugal will qualify. Also Scotland needs to beat Ireland by three goals to qualify on goal difference. Even a two goal win still promotes Portugal.

Why on earth teams from Group E and F will play against each other again? Why it couldnt be 1E with 4F, 2E with 3F and so on?
To avoid travelling between Netherlands and Poland. Teams that would travel for QF would be clearly disadvantaged. This is still unavoidable for the final & 3rd place match so the Gliwice SF will be played one day before the Apeldoorn SF.
First two QF are done:

Major surprise
wins a medal

That's a major surprise. Pacut comes from the same city where I was born and it's a city of Waldemar Legień which still operates one of the most successful judo clubs in Poland. Anyway, a medal here would still be a major shock. Polish judo has regressed badly over the last decade.

Natalia Czerwonka (speed skating) announced her retirement at the age of 34. The last of the OG team pursuit medal squad.

Schmiedlova is a well known mental midget which kinda leaves her buried in the pack for several years now. It's funny, since Daniela Hantuchova used to have similar issues but only after reaching a much higher level (the blown 2008 AO SF from 6-0 2-0 vs Ana Ivanovic comes to mind as chief example).

A new combined format will be tested this year at the junior world championships. Still a combined event of a slalom and a downhill races, but with two different riders ! And the team event should be axed after 2023 also.

(didn't find an english source on this)
This has more sense on paper. I'm all for getting rid of the stupid & unfair team event. I think even FIS knows this event is totally biased and one course will always have the better conditions and will always win so smart teams will always manipulate the outcome if they know what's going on.

I’m curious if any other countries/states/regions
/etc. have “dueling” holidays like we have in California/U.S today.
I was reminded today was Indigenous Peoples’ Day in California when my university welcomed indigenous groups to perform folk songs/dances on campus. However, other states and the federal government celebrate the day as Columbus Day, or in some cases, celebrate both as a holiday today. It’s a weird situation that rises from the legacy of colonization in the Americas and modern political discourse. I’m curious if there are situations of “duel” holidays like this in other places because it’s odd seeing different messaging for established holidays on the same day.
May 3rd in Poland - Catholic feast of Queen Mary (to celebrate the victorious war vs Sweden in XVII century) and the Constitution Day to celebrate the 1791 Constitution. None of this has to do anything with current political discourse though May 3rd was strictly banned from celebrations during the communism era due to obvious anti-religious and anti-democratic stance.

Well, our best judoka Julia Kowalczyk lost her first match with three shidos the other day and it's still a small miracle we got two other Top 8 placings with her not being one of them. Overall no medals should be expected for Poland anyway.

The only Wild Card G3 decider and NY Mets get a total of ONE hit off Joe Musgrove and go down 0-6 in pathetic fashion. No question about it, the biggest frauds have stepped up to the plate when it mattered again. 101 wins and all for nothing as they couldn't overcome the Tatis-less Padres
-
Coaching still matters. Brian Daboll is doing a Houdini work leading the Daniel Jones experiement to 4-1. NFC East is back to relevance with Cowboys (still with Cooper Rush) beating LA Rams and Eagles are still undefeated. Only Washington tailgates the division.
Meanwhile wheels came off the Dolphins. Bridgewater left the game with concussion (sic!) and the NY Jets scored 40 points on this allegedly top defense
Bills blew Steelers 38-3. It's gonna be a long season in Pittsburgh and there's very little chance Tomlin avoids his first losing season IMO.

FIA is a clown show. They declared full points since the race didn't end with a red flag so Verstappen is WDC after all.

Belarussian Army is less than 20,000 soliders in active duty. They have no assets to participate in any active military campaign right now (other than serve as cannon fodder). And what's worse, sending troops to fight for Putin might be one thing that actually sweeps Lukashenka from power because the same army would then be missing to combat any public unrest within Belarus.
