I'm more sanguine about the lightweights. I think the IOC wants them out and Paris will likely be their last hurrah. Rowing is looking at beach sprint rowing/coastal rowing as alternatives.

And see the proposed programme including a mixed event at the end of this article.

Rowing sprints? Wut? Even a 6 minute rowing race is deemed too long by IOC now?

  2. Team Poland squad (as expected Smarzek-Godek is out and so is Martyna Łukasik through injury):

    SETTERS: Katarzyna Wenerska, Joanna Wołosz

RECEIVERS: Monika Fedusio, Zuzanna Górecka, Olivia Różański, Weronika Szlagowska

OUTSIDE HITTERS: Monika Gałkowska, Magdalena Stysiak

MIDDLE BLOCKERS: Klaudia Alagierska-Szczepaniak, Agnieszka Korneluk, Anna Obiała, Kamila Witkowska

    LIBERO: Maria Stenzel, Aleksandra Szczygłowska

  3. Reminds me when Victoria Azarenka was described as "Guest" at the 2013 ESPYs awards alongside her then-boyfriend Redfoo (singer who used to be popular back in the day). It just so happened Azarenka was WTA #1 at the time...

What happened in the past 7 months is really confusing for me. Because I felt the controlled area is the same as it started in a week. Even though we continuously see some news the situation is back and forth a little bit. But in general, the line of control is almost the same in past 5 months and I don't see any sign of breakthrough of either side. Is this war going to last couple of years?

Yeah, it's been said over the summer, the Russian forces aren't strong enough to make a significant push to take more land, their main goal was obviously to take Kiev within the first week of the war, maybe have Zelensky flee the country and then have the war end literally two weeks after it has started. It's all gone in the gutter for the Russians though. The recent Kharkiv offensive shows they don't even want to fight a defensive war and don't have the manpower to occupy those areas when they are the ones under attack. The war will most likely last at least two more years unless EU countries suffer from public protests during the winter due to gas shortages & prices rising. That might force EU to stop with the military supply to Ukraine and help the Russians (it's basically their last chance, they're not winning the war with some ancient USSR weapons found in some warehouse in the Kirgizstan desert).

Over, bronze medal for Germany, 4th, the worst place for Poland, but in case of these guys 4th place is huge success, we had chance for bronze as there was tie by a moment in fourth quarter. Thanks guys for big, unexpected emotions at this tournament, you did great job.

Though next big event for this team will be Eurobasket 2025, as we failed qualify to second round of World Cup and in consequence we will miss also Olympic qualifications, probably some of these guys will retire until this time...

I still have a feeling we'll drag AJ Slaughter on court in 2025 again ;)

that's an average value for a close game under FIBA rules...

Germany vs Spain's last minute was surely longer than 6 actual mins (I normally don't take notice of that)...

I usually don't notice that either though I'm obviously aware the time outs/fouls are standard procedure in close basketball finishes but since @hckošiceappears to be a new fan of basketball I specifically looked on the clock for that one :p

I think that you dont like this team or either didnt cheer them.

Ever since the Waczynski drama it's clear this team has a ton of dirty laundry to deal with. No offense but Slaughter is 35 years old and still looks like the best PG we have. We got lucky with Slovenia, it's that simple. Don't have to sugar coat every result or else we're still talking about Wembley 1973 since we don't have any better memories in the last 40+ years ;)

Like I said before, I stopped enjoying basketball when it became a 3 pt shooting contest. It's happened in FIBA basketball too. That's not what I followed when I was younger and I simply don't enjoy this game anymore.

Some people have similar issues with tennis, serve & volley was removed as 'boring' but the slow ass courts are wearing people out too. Some of these sports have changed over time and not every change is for better. Basketball has clearly changed for worse IMO. I watched more 3x3 basketball at the Olympics than the regular 5x5.
