  1. Just out of curiousity, is that meant in general about Brazilians who move to Portugal, or about specific Brazilians who moved to Portugal (hello Pepe)?
  2. For what it's worth, not against Croatia at all in my case. Just hoping more for Japan because it'd be cooler and more 'historical' from a non-Croatian perspective
  3. I would just go and see if there's a country with a historical connection to yours, bad or good, and support them.
  4. The Brazilian fan here just left for an hour of kickboxing, and usually comes back super hyped from that. Can't wait for the combination of that plus the deafening cheering whenever Brazil does something good or bad
  5. I had hoped Japan would win, but honestly, if how you deal with your chance is by taking penalty after penalty as if you're petting a cute cat....yeah, no, sorry.
  6. Jesus, Japan didn't train for penalties in their life?!
  7. Judging by people commenting on it, more than a ton of other Olympic sports and events, apparently.
  8. But a Grand Tour needs flat stages too, climbers aren't the only good cyclists
  9. Never mind, I'll take my Brazil vest off
  10. I've been getting some (jokingly) angry looks at work today because I'm in a Brazil vest, but the only reason I hope Brazil wins is because it keeps the chance for a BRA - NED semi alive After which we'll see if I'm happy with it or not.
  11. The only real solution is either 32 or 64 teams, and the latter is way too many. Or 16, of course, as long as it results in a number with which one can make groups of 4 in such an amount that we don't need the unfair 'best third-placed teams' nonsense before going to knockout stages.
  12. But how are you going to compare the performances in different groups? Netherlands getting 7 points against Ecuador, Senegal and Qatar would mean the Netherlands is ranked better - basically due to an extremely lucky draw - than say Japan getting 6 points but against Germany and Spain, even though for all intents and purposes Japan's performance is significantly better?
  13. It's truly hard to decide which one is better, or less bad. Groups with three teams...meh. A number of groups which can't lead to a direct knockout stage without unfair things like 'top-x numbers 3 also qualify'...meh.
  14. How is the 5 subs thing bad? So far it has only been good - at least definitely not bad - and could add some more dynamics to a match. Plus it somewhat decreases the overall injury chances, which is great.
  15. This is also probably the number one example of the Mandela effect in Dutch sports commentary history Timmertje meaning 'Little Timmer, like a nickname' --> Most people remember it was "Timmertje, Timmertje, wat doe je nou?", whereas it was actually "Timmertje, Timmertje, wat ga je doen?"
  16. I still remember reading people on a forum starting to go all "wtf, did he miss his exchange?!" and at the same time watching the odds on Betfair move up from 1.1 or so to 1.4....1.6....2 and then to 1000 all of a sudden, all within a minute during his race. Ok, game over
  17. That was a fun women's race indeed, although my favourites unfortunately didn't do great this time Anyhow, enjoyable fight for the podium places and a fantastic weekend for Emma Lunder!
  18. I can imagine it's a massively remembered moment as it must have been huge at the time, but is it still looked at positively? No pun intended, but outside of Greece I think the name Kenteris basically goes together with the doping scandal I mean, every time I hear his name I have to go to Wikipedia to remind myself if he had won something before that 2004 drama and then realize he won gold in 2000
  19. But in Dutch the 'z' isn't usually embedded in a complex pattern of partially repeating 'similar letters' like 's' and 'c'
  20. Czszeszczsny falls, sees the ball is still in dangerous position and decides to yell in pain to stop the play, successfully
  21. Yeah, sports events is what I meant, otherwise you'll get to anthems that take half an hour with all verses I'm surprised at how very long some of the versions they play are.
  22. Kounde is an amateur who doesn't know basic jewelry rules?
  23. Parties in the Netherlands if Poland wins, so let's go Poland
