  1. Horrible injury yesterday in the men's -73kg bronze medal fight for home favourite Obidkhon Nomonov, who got thrown on his arm. At first I thought "cool throw", so I wanted to see it again...only then I realized it was not quiet because he simply lost, it had turned quiet because his elbow snapped all the way an elbow shouldn't go...damn.
  2. I don't know which NBA comments he made, but I generally simply like him as well Plus the 10 year old version of me for sure finds his Dragon Ball Z things cool
  3. Cool, throwback to where he came from Would have been nice if Usain Bolt had done that too at some point, a bit of a token of appreciation to the event he started out in
  4. First athletics world title, but....might it be their first ever world title in any sport? Just like with Saint Lucia I'd have no idea where Dominica might ever have won a world title in an internationally recognized sport..
  5. Excellent job by whoever made the timetable to place the high jump final outside of the main programs, this is an excellent final and it now gets all the airtime it deserves
  6. Torleif Syrstad with a truly epic race, first 65km or so in a lead group of four, then attacked for a 20km solo to the win 17 year old super talent Alvar Myhlback in 3rd
  7. The Race of Races has just started, the legendary Vasaloppet
  8. Alfred?! Edit: Alfred!
  9. Dutch commentator mentioning how so far this was a flawless evening of athletics, 'apart from maybe the Spanish hurdler protesting'. You know, open ankle fractures aside, I guess.
  10. Hobbs cramps up before the start
  11. Yep, and they do genuinely seem to be close friends, so that helps in always pushing each other to the limits
  12. Klaver is of course super happy in her interview, she said she finished being happy with silver "and then to tell Femke about her world record, because of course she had no clue what was going on as per usual"
  13. In such a short event, where it's about hundredths of seconds, unbelievable. And what makes it better is that he always comes across as a super nice and friendly guy and not one of those typical testosteron bombs Dutch hurdler Job Geerds said in the call room before the semis he talked to Holloway for a bit (big deal, because Geerds is super new to all of this) and he's a massively down to earth and nice guy
  14. Holloway is such a monster This kind of margin in 60 (!) meters is insane.
  15. Yeah, I'll skip that replay of the stream...
  16. Chevrier? Edit: did a quick Twitter search, seems like I missed that in the broadcast (luckily)....damn
  17. Kerr First non-Ethiopian winner in over a decade
  18. Is there a Lithuanian version of Thierry Baudet or Salvini or Le Pen or some unfortunate like that they accidentally gave the athletics commentary to?
  19. Van der Weken and Hobbs in the final
  20. Alfred's heat looked more convincing than her semi.
  21. Gonna be a Triki final.
  22. TV directors apparently forgot the existence of field events, as per usual.
  23. If at some point he wins everything, and silver is an actual disappointment...yeah
  24. Like Max Verstappen in Formula 1: I can not describe how epic of a moment in Dutch sports history it was when he first won a race, that was batshit crazy and even football fans in a top level match were chanting his name all of a sudden during a match when his win became known there. Now it's just normal and it is either normal (when he wins) or disappointing (when he doesn't) Dominance in any sport sucks
