  1. 2. young talent Linda Noskova takes down [32] Marie Bouzkova 6-1, 7-5!
  3. My mistake, I read the results wrong.
  4. @thepharoah why are you disappointed with ties against Spain and South Korea? Aren’t those good results from an Egyptian perspective?
  5. I’m incredibly late to responding here, but the top three unqualified nations at the Pan Am Games booked their ticket to the OQT. By the way, the tournament has started already, we’re at 1-1 (0-2 loss to Great Britain, and 3-0 win against Malaysia) but our hopes of qualifying for Paris is pretty much over after today’s results. Canada was either hoping for big (6/7-0) win against Malaysia (if they win Tuesday against Spain it could’ve came down to GD, Spain is +8, Canada and Great Britain are +1, but Great Britain has yet to play Malaysia), or a Great Britain win over Spain (Spain won 1-0 today), for a direct match at a spot in the semifinals, but unfortunately neither happened. It’ll take a defensive masterclass from Malaysia, and an upset win over Spain to make it out of group (if we demolish Spain that’ll also work, but that’s not happening)
  6. So it’ll be v. in the gold medal match, also battling for the one available ticket to Paris. v. for bronze.
  7. Right okay, a bit of mixed day in terms of Olympic Qualification. Natasha Wodak was on pace for 2:24 mid at the Houston Marathon with six miles left to go, but her hamstrings started to seize up soon after, finishing well off the OQS in 2:28.41. She hasn’t ruled out a trip to the Boston Marathon, just depending on whether her body can recover in time. On a more positive note, Canada has now qualified their first athletes in fencing (20th sport), as our women’s foil team has mathematically booked their ticket to Paris with one WC still to go!
  8. It’s Djokovic, I wouldn’t be counting him out at any of the slams, even with the hardest draw possible.
  9. I know our chances to qualify are slim, but can someone provide me with all the scenarios, and tell me what will need to happen for Canada to have a chance at making it out of the group?
  10. BWF Super 1000 Petronas Malaysia Open | Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Men’s Singles 1. Anders Antonsen 2. Shi Yuqi 3. Lin Chun-Yi 3. Viktor Axelsen Women’s Singles 1. An Se-Young 2. Tai Tzu-Ying 3. Zhang Yiman 3. Chen Yufei Men’s Doubles 1. Liang Weikeng/Wang Chang 2. Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty 3. Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi 3. Kang Min-Hyuk/Seo Seung-Jae Women’s Doubles 1. Liu Shengshu/Tan Ning 2. Zhang Shu Xian/Zheng Yu 3. Rin Iwanaga/Kie Nakanishi 3. Baek Ha-Na/Lee So-Hee Mixed Doubles 1. Yuta Watanabe/Arisa Higashino 2. Kim Won-Ho/Jeong Na-Eun 3. Jiang Zhenbang/Wei Yaxin 3. Terry Hee/Jessica Tan Full Results Can I just say, I hate how most matches are determined by a toss of the coin. Let me explain for those of you who don’t follow badminton, in this tournament (Indonesia Open as another example) sides matter. During set one (and set three if it comes down to it) you’ll want to be on the side facing away from the crowd, as there’s a slight wind in the hall, which leads to very lopsided sets. Of course, that’s not always the case, but more often than not that’s how it turns out.
  11. First shock of the day, as v. ends 1-1
  12. Sara McManus knots her second goal of the game right before halftime, and leads 3-0!
  13. Don’t have high expectations for them, but really hoping they can qualify for the first time since Barcelona 1992. Heart breaking way for them to miss out last time, they played at the FIH Olympic Qualifiers for Tokyo 2020 in a two-legged playoff against Ireland, finishing 0-0 on aggregate after two games, which meant it went to a shootout. Canada led 3-1 in the shootout, but eventually lost 3-4.
  14. 22’ goal for Rae Thora to make it 2-0 for over
  15. Luckily for us, despite our 44-45 loss to Spain, Brazil also lost 42-44 in the R32 to Austria. So disaster averted for now.
  16. Goal for Sara McManus! leads 1-0 after three minutes of play, in a must win match for their (somewhat slim) Olympic hopes.
  17. 18. Thank you, must’ve forgot to update results fully when posting it.
  19. Choked a 44-39 lead… no words
  20. According to the Norwegian Ski Federation, Kilde has dislocated his shouler, has a cut in his calf, and several bruises. Yesterday evening, in Bern, he got underwent surgery. He’s expected to be out for the rest of the 2024 season.
  21. She is a promising young athlete, who has lots of room for improvement, but I think Paris 2024 might be too soon for her. Her PB of 59.11m was at a really (really) windy meet in Oklahoma, and since then has only got within two meters at most of the mark (in nine meets)
  22. Surprised that no one has mentioned this by now, but defeated 8-7 in the gold medal match for anyone wondering
