  1. 8-0, after a 7-2 victory over Japan and a 9-5 victory over Turkey! Match against Turkey was much closer than the scoreline suggested, they were playing phenomenally. Turkey were 5-4 up after 9 ends, but a HUGE 5 for Homan after a runback secured the win. Didn’t come without drama as well, in the 9th end there was a tie for second shot, and after three measures they still came that conclusion. The tiebreaker went in favour of Canada, and Turkey only scored the single. I’ve been watching curling ever since Pyeongchang 2018, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen something like that before.
  2. WHAT AN INCREDIBLE RUNBACK FOR 5 Team Homan now improves to 8-0, and secures their spot in the playoffs in the process! (and 22 consecutive matches won)
  3. Turkey only gets the one, according to the tiebreak rules. Turkey leads 5-4 heading into the 10th end.
  4. A tie for second shot between and Not something you see very often.
  5. Scotland isn’t good at women’s curling anymore. They haven’t finished better than 12th at the last two World Championships. But I could see the case being made for either match.
  6. Yes. Spain is a much better team than United States at the moment, considering they won the World Cup and the UEFA Nations League. That’s not the only reason why however, also contributing towards my ranking are the Round of 16 exit (lost to Sweden) for United States at the World Cup, Rapinoe’s retirement, but most importantly the shocking loss against Mexico at the CONCACAF Gold Cup, that’s an inexcusable result for the United States. They did eventually win the CONCACAF Gold Cup, but if I’m not wrong I believe that match was played in extremely rainy weather. Edit: We do seem to struggle against the United States in women’s football bar Tokyo though, I think either matchup would be tough.
  7. Mind you I’m far from an expert, but I believe the following athletes are the favourites for women’s freestyle quotas at the European Qualifier judging off of results from the last two European Championships/World Championships (leaving men’s greco-roman and men’s freestyle to MSHN) If I’m missing any names feel free to tell me. 50kg: Oksana Livach, Mariya Stadnik, Ksenia Stankevich, Anna Lukasiak, Emmanuela Liuzzi, Ana-Maria Pirvu, Miglena Selishka 53kg: Maria Prevolaraki, Natalia Malysheva, Stalvira Orshush, Zeynet Yegtil, Mariana Dragutan, Andreea Ana 57kg: Elvira Kamaloglu, Evelina Nikolova, Zhala Aliyeva, Ramona Galambos, Alina Hrushyna, Elena Brugger, Iryna Kurachkina 62kg: Bilyana Dudova, Johanna Lindborg, Veranika Ivanova, Birgul Soltanova, Mariana Cherdivara, Aleksandra Wolczynska, Kriszta Tunde 68kg: Mimi Hristova, Adela Hanzlickova, Tetiana Rizkho, Khanum Velieva, Hanna Sadchanka 76kg: Epp Mae, Catalina Axente, Anastasiya Zimiankova, Yasemin Adar, Enrica Rinaldi, Anastasiia Osniach, Marina Kuenz, Francy Radelt, Bernadett Nagy, Kamile Gaucaite
  8. I’ll just say this, it’s so cool to see @hckošice ’s enthusiasm for lower grade hockey tournaments Can’t think of a single other user on the site that would post results and schedules for the “Men's Ice Hockey IIHF Under 18 Division II Group B World Championship 2024”
  9. @Biathlonfan sorry I completely misread the pool regulations Lithuania (should they qualify) would have a pretty good chance at making it into the quarterfinals. I struggle to see them advancing into the semifinals, but it’s possible.
  10. Maybe I am underrating Italy… but yeah Sabonis will probably be the difference maker (assuming he wants to play for Lithuania at the OQT) should both of them advance to the final match.
  11. Wouldn’t count out Dominican Republic or Greece, but yeah those seem like the most likely options. Not Dominican Republic, I forgot they won’t have KAT.
  12. But wouldn’t you be happy even to make it to the Olympics? That’s a huge accomplishment, considering a few quality teams get left out every quad.
  13. I think you’re being way too pessimistic about your chances. In terms of talent, Lithuania is a level above Italy. But OK.
  14. Assuming we finish first or second in the group (not a guarantee but likely) we’d have a decent draw. First in Group A we’d likely face Australia/Germany (Australia is more likely, one of their key players Sam Kerr injured her ACL earlier this year and is unlikely to play) or Japan/Brazil (maybe even Nigeria, they aren’t a half bad team) in the quarterfinals, followed by a potential encounter with Spain in the semifinals. Second in Group B we’d likely face Germany or Australia in the quarterfinals, followed by a potential encounter with the United States in the semifinals. Essentially, getting first in our group means we’d have an easier quarterfinal followed by a very difficult semifinal. Getting second in our means we have a tougher quarterfinal, but a slightly easier semifinal.
  15. Maybe, but they’re not one of the favoured teams. Form can change between now and Milano-Cortina 2026 obviously, but right now Sweden, Canada, Japan, Korea, Switzerland, and potentially United States (could switch with Italy) would all be favoured over them. After those seven teams Denmark and Norway would be the only other teams that have a chance although those are long shots at the moment (Rørvik’s silver last year was a fluke IMO)
  16. Draw 13 Results 8 - 5 5 - 6 8 - 6 6 - 8 Scotland beating Switzerland has to be the biggest upset of the event by far.
  17. That’s what they said when I was listening to the draw. So unless they’ve made a mistake, I’m pretty sure.
  18. I’m not sure that’s right Ben. Those teams aren’t even playing each other
  19. Nigeria v. South Africa for CAF 1, and Morocco v. Zambia for CAF 2.
  20. Match schedule and draw for the women’s football tournament is now out. Canada will take on New Zealand on July 25 at 9:00 PST/12:00 EST, France on July 28 at 13:00 PST/17:00 EST, and Colombia on July 31 at 13:00 PST/17:00 EST.
  21. 1:57.06 PB for Mary-Sophie Harvey in the women’s 200m freestyle!
  22. Olympic Draw Group A France (A1) Canada (A3) Colombia (A2) New Zealand (A4) Group B United States (B1) Germany (B3) Australia (B4) CAF 2 (B2) Group C Spain (C1) Japan (C2) Brazil (C4) CAF 1 (C3)
  23. Olympic Draw Group A France (A1) New Zealand (A4) United States (A2) AFC-CAF Playoff (A3) Group B Argentina (B1) Morocco (B2) AFC 3 (B3) Ukraine (B4) Group C AFC 2 (C1) Spain (C2) Egypt (C3) Dominican Republic (C4) Group D AFC 1 (D1) Paraguay (D2) Mali (D3) Israel (D4)
  24. Draw 12 Results 11 - 4 7 - 2 8 - 7 10 - 5 Team Constantini starting to insert themselves into the Milano-Cortina 2026 medal conversation. Team Hasselborg starting to heat up with five wins in a row after starting 1-3!
