  1. I do agree that Canada has a better team, but only by a little bit IMO. However, I’m not so confident that they’ll eventually qualify for Paris. That being said, I’ve been following Canadian athletes club season stats (even managing to watch some of the games) and they are certainly doing better than last year. Brie King (Sesc RJ Flamengo) was one of the top setters in Brazil last year, and from what I’ve been seeing it only looks like she’s been getting better. Andrea Mitrovic (Grot Budowlani Łódź) has been MVP in Tauron Liga (Polish League) a bunch, so has Hillary Howe (Radomka Radom), but Mitrovic seems to be a more reliable passing option. In the Sultanlar Ligi, we have Emily Maglio (Beşiktaş), who is continuing with her form that saw her as the top blocker at the Olympic Qualifier, currently averaging 0.77 blocks per set (6th overall) and 2.84 pts per set. We also have Kiera Van Ryk (Türk Hava Yolları), the Canadian I’ve probably been the most impressed with this season, she’s second in the Sultanlar Ligi (Turkish League) in points per set (5.83) ahead of big names like Tijana Boskovic (5.78) and Magdalena Stysiak (5.24)
  2. Men’s basketball team, another female athlete in modern pentathlon, a male athlete in modern pentathlon, men’s 3x3 basketball team, women’s 3x3 basketball team all have chances. Not to mention you have a bunch of athletes in athletics, and a couple in swimming that could qualify.
  3. Snowboard Cross WC St. Moritz | St. Moritz, Switzerland Women Gold- Eva Adamczykova Silver- Sophie Hediger Bronze- Chloe Trespeuch First career WC podium for Hediger, and a win for Adamczykova on her return! (she missed the first two stops as she was competing in a celebrity ballroom dancing contest on Czech TV, even managing to advance to December’s final) Men Gold- Eliot Grondin Silver- Kalle Koblet Bronze- Omar Visintin Full Results
  4. Valerie Grenier with her second WC podium of the season as she wins bronze in women’s downhill at the Cortina D’Ampezzo WC. A lot of the top alpine skiers are either injured and did not compete, or DNFd, so not as good of a result as the medal suggests. I’ll take it though.
  5. Eliot Grondin wins gold in men’s snowboard cross at the St. Moritz WC, the test event for the 2025 World Championships! Becomes the new WC leader in the process as well.
  6. Did I miss something? Since when was Gut-Behrami Croatian
  7. Second podium of the season for Valerie Grenier
  8. 145 quotas, 6 months out from Paris 2024, sounds good, but from a Canadian perspective it’s absolutely terrible. Although I was never expecting to match our Tokyo 2020 number (381, our highest ever) with the quotas being reduced significantly, there’s been a number of Olympic qualification events in which we’ve either underperformed or just barely failed to secure a quota. - Wrestling Worlds, we were expecting quotas in all 6 events, instead we ended up with none. - Ran Sevens Men’s Olympic Qualifier, lost 14-24 to United States in the final. - Women’s Volleyball Olympic Qualifying Tournament, finished at 5-2 along with Serbia but they took second spot over us as they had more points. - Rowing Worlds, Canada has been on a decline, but was expecting more than two quotas (somewhere between 3-4) - Modern Pentathlon at the Pan Am Games, now normally I wouldn’t have high expectations for one of our worst sports but Kelly Fitzsimmons was actually in the lead heading into the laser run portion of the final (and in a really great position for one of two quotas, I believe she was over 20 points ahead of the second NORCECA athlete) but blew it with incredibly poor shooting
  9. He loses matches (and slam matches) every year, I think you’re overreacting to this loss IMO. He won three slams last year (including the last two at Wimbledon and US Open) and although Alcaraz and Sinner will be tough challenges (maybe also Nadal if he can get the proper treatment for his hip, and return to form) I don’t see Medvedev, Zverev, Rune, Tsitsipas, and Rublev being able to challenge him. Maybe if he plays like he did today, but that rarely ever happens.
  10. @Wanderer I’m sure you were probably watching, but if you weren’t Gaby Dabrowski/Erin Routliffe lost 7-5, 7-5 to Lyudmyla Kichenok/Jelena Ostapenko in the women’s doubles semifinals They were 5-3 up in both sets, but dropped 4 consecutive games in each as well (even had a BP at 5-6 in the second set but couldn’t convert)
  11. Just did some research on him, in 2019 he became the first ever 12 year old to land a triple cork. Watch out for him in the future, he’s legit.
  12. Parallel Giant Slalom WC Rogola | Rogola, Slovenia Men Gold- Benjamin Karl Silver- Aaron March Bronze- Mirko Felicetti Women Gold- Miki Tsubaki Silver- Michelle Dekkers Bronze- Sabine Schoeffmann Where did all of these Italian athletes come from? I swear we have a new one podiuming every single WC Full Results
  13. That, and Djokovic was off. 54 unforced errors is hardly going to cut it against an opponent of Sinner’s caliber. Credit to Sinner though, he barely put a step wrong during the match. Ending Djokovic’s 33 match win streak at Australian in that fashion is really impressive, not to mention doing it without facing even a single break point. Future world #1, you heard it from me first.
  14. Olympic Quota Standings After 2/10 Races 7 pts (Continental Quota reallocated to Brazil) 11 pts 16 pts (Continental Quota reallocated to Ecuador) 17 pts 18 pts 19 pts 20 pts _______________ 22 pts 28 pts 30 pts (Already secured a quota but including for Continental quota purposes) 31 pts 32 pts 33 pts (Already secured a quota but including for Continental quota purposes) 34 pts 37 pts 38 pts 38 pts 43 pts 44 pts 45 pts 54 pts 60 pts 62 pts 64 pts 66 pts 68 pts 71 pts 76 pts 85 pts (Already secured a quota but including for Continental quota purposes) 86 pts 87 pts 88 pts 95 pts (Already secured a quota but including for Continental quota purposes) 100 pts 102 pts I believe the athlete from withdrew, can’t seem to find his name on the results list

  16. are your Gangwon 2024 gold medalists in mixed team curling after a 7-5 win over Great final.
  17. finally scores (first time since the 2nd end) with a single in the 8th end. and tied 5-5, Great Britain with the hammer heading into the extra end.
  18. Jacob Schmidt purposefully misses, giving up a steal to to keep the hammer heading into the 8th end, down one. lead 5-4, but Denmark with hammer in the 8th (and final) end.
  19. Katrine Schmidt with a really nice double
  20. blank end 6. and still tied 4-4 after 6 ends of play, Denmark with hammer in 7.
  21. And it’s all over, [2] Aryna Sabalenka defeats [4] Coco Gauff 7-6 (2), 6-4 to advance to her second Australian Open final in a row! She’ll take on either [12] Qinwen Zheng or Dayana Yastremska for the title (going for back-to-back Grand Slams at the Australian Open, first since Victoria Azarenka in 2012/13) on Saturday.
  22. Another steal for as Jacob Schmidt misses the nose hit for the single. and tied 4-4 after 5 ends, Denmark with the hammer in the all important 6th end.
  23. Jacob Schmidt with an attempted draw for the single, just needed the 5 foot, but comes up inches short to give up the steal. leads 4-3 at the break, Denmark with hammer in end 5.
  24. Think I need to brush up on my curling terms (either that or get some sleep), that last shot in end 3 wasn’t a runback
  25. Logan Carson attempts a shot for 3, but is unsuccessful, and only scores the single. lead 4-2 after 3 ends, Denmark with hammer in the 4th.
