What. Just. Happened. Brian Yang is through to the final at the BWF Super 500 Indonesia Open, after defeating World #4 Anthony Ginting 14-21, 21-17, 21-19! He was 9-13 down in set two, and 15-19 (!) down in set three, but fought back brilliantly (that and Ginting was producing a bunch of unforced errors), even pulling out the forehand serve twice near the end. What a moment for Canadian badminton, he’s the first ever Canadian to ever reach a Super 500 (or higher) final!

Canada win their first match in men’s hockey, defeating South Korea 8-0! Also, a lot (5) of the players who represented Canada at Lausanne 2020 went on to get drafted into the NHL, perhaps most notably Adam Fantilli.

Brian Yang does it again, defeating World #4 Anthony Ginting 13-21, 21-17, 21-19 to advance to his first career Super 500 final at the Indonesia Masters Yang was 9-13 down in set 2, and 15-19 (!!) down in set 3, yet somehow still managed to come out on the winning side. He’ll take on World #7 Anders Antonsen in the final, who’s in red hot form after winning the Super 1000 Malaysia Open a couple of weeks ago.

Alexandria Loutitt wins bronze in women’s normal hill at the Ljubno WC! Used to be non-existent in this sport almost two years ago, and now we have two contenders capable of contending for medals on a world stage. Still a couple years away from Milan 2026, but it’s very much possible that either Loutitt or Strate could win Canada’s first ever ski jumping Olympic gold. 2022 Olympic bronze in mixed team really did wonders for our program, even if it was in an unorthodox way.
