Polish ES commentators Tomasz Jaronski (age 64) & Krzysztof Wyrzykowski (age 74) have grown over the years to become my favorites. They do cycling in the spring/summer & biathlon in the winter. It's down to the fact biathlon is my 2nd favorite winter sport after alping skiing but they're always in the mood for one-liners or some ancient stories nobody has heard of or cares about (like the one during mixed relay about ordering coffee in Italian while on trip to Sud Tirol).
Plus they always have something to say about the physical shape of women biathletes. The new trend over the past 2/3 years is Dorothea Wierer's eye make-up. And they agreed Ann-Kathrin Flatland was the best looking girl on IBU tour ever They're also pretty high on Wierer (duh), Soukalova (retired) & Eva Puskarcikova Miriam Goessner was also in the mill especially after her Playboy shoot
Also whenever someone misses 3 shots or more she goes by "poor girl" no matter the name or country.

Looks like the experts will have to learn a new name?
-
There's a pretty long way from the standing places to the penalty loop in Ostersund so I guess the IBU judges had enough time to react?
-
I just found out that Lisa-Therese Hauser was busted for shooting at the wrong targets in the stand so had to do 5 penalty laps after 10/10 shoot She finished 70th.

It was still Holdener's best slalom this season "only" 0,85 back from the winner.
Shiffrin breaks Vreni Schneider's single-season win record with her 15th.
Two more seasons like that and Stenmark will be gone too. Shiffrin turns 24(!) on Wednesday. I feel old...

Very low turnout of crowd, it's empty there. Even on Universiade it was full...
Do Bugaria have any meaningful skaters since Radanova retired?
-
I didn't watch the first SF but they said Elise Christie was DQ too? So even with all the rules changes that's one person that always gets DQ in the big events

Good to know, now even the Czech Republic is more attractive for athletes than Germany, sad times ...
Don't remember a german athlete by that name.
Would she even make the German team though? It's not unusual that lower ranked athletes from a powerhouse country switch their nationality just to compete at the highest level. Happens all the time to Americans in basketball & Chinese in table tennis.

Andreas Stjernen will retire after the Raw Air event.

1) At least Johaug and Sundby were banned, something we would never see in biathlon.
2) How is Tandrevold supposed to dominate? Its not like she is super fast in cross-country, more like a bit above average. Wierer, Vitozzi, Dahlmeier, Davidova and so on are all on the same level.
Johaug & Sundby got banned for their stupidity.
Tora Berger didn't dominate at 23 either. If Tandrevold becomes the best shooter of the team she can only improve her skiing. After all, these Norwegians are always pretty good on skis. Maybe only Solemdal of the current team is weaker but everyone else is top notch and Tandrevold will get there as well IMO.
When Davidova drops the junior breathing technique she will become a major force as well.

Yeah, France could be even bigger losers than Italy at these champs Was it last season that Braisaz said she wants to be the BEST biathlete in the field? She's gone completely off the boil over the last 12 months.

Impressive from Dahlmeier despite being completely out of shape, good position for the pursuit. Norway improved a lot on the womens side this season. The only positive thing is that they will never dominate on the womens side, otherwise biathlon would turn into another snoozefest like cross-country. Who knows? Maybe the fact that officials in cross-country skiing take the fight against doping more seriously than the biathlon officials will lead to more and more norwegian talents prefering biathlon over cross-country.
There's no anti-Norwegian doping fight in cross country though. They legalised Symbicort as the TRUE magic potion after Norway got their asses spanked in Liberec 2009. All the beef is anti-Russian. In biathlon their issue has been about shooting, if Tandrevold doesn't randomly blow 3-4 misses like Eckhoff & Olsbu then she could dominate like peak Tora Berger. Look at the men's side, once JTB started to hit 9/10 - 19/20 and not 7/10 - 15/20 he's unstoppable. Frode Andresen & Lars Berger would have seriosly eaten into Ole Einar's dominance if only they for once sorted out their shooting.

Come on Davidova, catch her!
She's so slow on the range. But 9/10, not bad.
Junior breathing technique. She will have to learn to shoot with a single breath before each shot.
Herrmann 2 misses in the stands and she's gone...
-
Well, Vlhova will have to start doing Super Gs and Downhills if she dreams of the overall. She's got the body type to glide down Lake Louise

Dahlmeier steals bronze by 0,7... for now..

Herrmann is game.
Her standing shoot is not game
-
And that's gold for Kuzmina... by 9,7 secs.
-
Oeberg just outside Tandrevold! Some pace on the last lap.
Dahlmeier 10/10 and faces a run just to get bronze!
-
Kuzmina 9/10 but only 1,9 behind Tandrevold. Should easily beat her at the finish.
Kaisa takes a tumble too...
-
Dahlmeier still 10 secs. slower than Tandrevold after 1st shoot.

Olsbu with 6/10, bye, bye. Wierer provisional first place. Oh no! +0.6! Come on now, how did she lost that?
She fell on the last climb

I wonder if the snow fall will make things worse for the latter numbers? JTB #28 so could just avoid the worst.
