Someone still cares about that piece of land? There's nothing important in Karabach, it's only a dick measuring contest between Armenia and Azerbaijan at this stage. The world doesn't care about it. I still remember TV news about the first N-K war in early 1990s. Thirty years on and it's still on. Nobody freaking cares. I bet in 2055 the next generation will be hearing about this too.

Sadly certain parts of the world are basically permanent wasp nests. Sometimes it cools down for a bit, but there's always going to be whatever that kicks the nest and the whole thing blows up again, be that with actual war or non-stop bitching between countries (especially the whole big line between roughly Morocco east towards Turkey or so).

And now the Poland vs Ukraine bitching contest, nobody really cares about what the presidents of the countries say (especially now, because the international eyes are still firmly on Ukraine vs Russia and not on it's neighbours), but it does fill up a bit of space in the news broadcasts, so there we go.

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

"International eyes" = western europe/USA, who bitch all the time about stuff only they care about but since they are powerful we're all supposed to pretend it's the most important thing in the world.

Poland v. Ukraine getting a lot of attention, but the India v. Canada drama is just as interesting too. These geopolitical spats are coming too quick to keep up with this week.

Agree, the whole concept of “International Law” is basically a way for Western lawyers to earn big bucks & travel First Class & stay in luxury hotels. Take the International Court away from The Hague, locate it in Bolivia & pay local salaries & you would never ever hear of it again.

Which international court in The Hague do you mean, as there are two courts that could be described as such.  Also, international law is much more than those two courts. There’s for instance that “favorite” of right wing Britons, the European Court of Human Rights in Strassbourg.

Of course, comments like this also undermine the important work those courts have done in prosecuting war criminals and other high profile international criminals.

At enormous expense, at glacial speed and at a great distance from the places where the crimes were committed.  It took 25 years for the :YUG & :RWA tribunals to complete their work for example. A highly paid career for many lawyers, interpreters & other lucky western functionaries, but not necessarily justice for the victims.

Just a quick look shows you’re wrong again.

The website of the Rwanda tribunal informs us that there are currently 10 judges, with a majority not from Western countries (Togo, Senegal, China, Pakistan, Russian Federation, Madagascar).

from wikipedia: the Yugoslavia tribunal had nearly 90 judges, with at least 40 from non western countries.
