  1. They all have basically a similiar design, the difference is that while some opted for only the nation name in full center (Germany, Korea, Norway, Slovakia, USA), others have only the emblem as the highlight (Czech Republic, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland). Canada and Russia were the "lucky" ones with both the emblem and name. Don't you think that the national federations had a say in this? I mean, probably they have to approve the final design?
  2. In all honesty, all jerseys have a pretty simple design, not only the slovakian one. Korea is my favourite because at least has a different element to it.
  3. And yet Morgan Hurd absolutely deserved the title based on what was presented yesterday. She's the only gymnast on the field that managed to end the competition without a major mistake, so other result would be strange.
  4. Yes, good for her, especially considering is her debut year as a senior. Unfortunately, she had a fall performing on the beam, which was by far her best chance of a medal.
  5. Of course our main hope for a medal is out injured (Rebeca Andrade). She now has missed the Youth Olympics, Pan American Games and 2 World Championships because of injuries - her only big competition was, of course, the Rio Games. Honestly, I'm not sure if she will come back from this. At least she will always have the home Olympics to remember...
  6. We'll have a new All-Around champion after a decade!
  7. Wrong. She speaks portuguese (not perfect) in all interviews.
  8. 2 medals for Brazil, one in a non-Olympic event and the other in a non-Paralympic event. But still, good result for us.
  9. I thought so. Even though this is the biggest sports page in Brazil, the article uses as source only 1 person. Even if the matter has been discussed/approved, we must wait official confirmation. Anyway, if somehow this is real, I guess this mixed-nations teams wouldn't really be a threat for a medal, right?
  10. I might be a little late to the party, but have you guys seen that maybe Equestrian will have Teams with athletes from different nations in 2020? From what I understood, athletes from nations that haven't qualified a full team will have a chance to take part in the team events, being part of mixed-NOCs groups. The information was "confirmed" by a FEI member (Luiz Roberto Giugni, former president of the brazilian federation), who says this will definitely happen in 2020. Article (in portuguese).
  11. Rio Velodrome will host the 2018 Para Cycling Track World Championship.

  13. Night of tests at the Olympic Park for the music festival.
  14. I'm going to Rio tomorrow and I'll have the opportunity to revisit the Olympic Park since I'll attend the Rock in Rio music festival this weekend. I found this video images from this week: From the video, we can see some things about the Rio venues: The Rio Olympic Arena (Gymnastics), formerly HSBC Arena, is now called Jeunesse Arena. It's probably the most used venue of the Park, there's sports and other big events regularly there. It's possible to see the damage at the roof of the Velodrome after the fire some months back. The repairs will cost "only" 200,000 reais (about 65,000 dollars) and will be paid with part of the money the music festival will bring - they will pay aproximately 1 million reais, which will also be used to transform the Carioca Arena 2 in a training center as a legacy for brazilian sports. The Cariocas Arenas will hold the Game XP (a big eSports event), which will happen at the same time as the music festival. The Future Arena (Handball) is still there, unfortunately. It was supposed to be desmantled already, but the new projection is for the next year. The Aquatics stadium "skeleton" is also there. Both pools (competition and warm up) were dismantled many months ago and will go to other states that don't have 50m pools. Unfortunately no one seems to be interested in the "junk" of metal around it - so far that the idea of dismantle the arena might be scraped in favour of doing another thing using the structure (a smaller football field, a recreational aquatics center, among other ideas, have been suggested, but nothing concrete so far). The Tennis Center hosted some beach volleyball matches this year and I hear is in talks to host future ATP events in Rio.
