Brazil
Little Joy is a group formed by brazilian musicians Rodrigo Amarante (originally from the group Los Hermanos) and Frabizio Moretti (best known as the drummer of The Strokes), plus singer Binki Shapiro (who sings the portuguese bit in the song we present here). "Next Time Around" comes from their eponymous debut (and only) album, which met critical acclaim during its release in 2008. The video was shot with a vintage camera and shows some famous places of Rio.
Little Joy - "Next Time Around"
One too many goals
That measure out your worth
To seek your weight in gold
Sat by the ivory sill
The further out you look
The further out you'll be
It's not enough to set the terms
If nothing ventured, nothing earned
Though odds are set against
In time, I'll belong to you
It's how it's meant to be
Settled on your own
Sweeping dust from stones
With a letter home
Back where the hour's long
The simplest things invite a thrill
If just by noticing at will
It's not enough to set the terms
If nothing ventured, nothing earned
It's how it's always been
E onde a sorte há de te levar
(And wherever fate takes you) Saiba o caminho é o fim, mais que chegar
(Know that the path is the goal, rather than arriving) E queira o dia ser gentil
(And if the day wants to be kind) À tua mão aberta pra quem é
(Keep your hand open to whoever it be)
In time, I'll belong to you
That's how it's meant to be
And how it's always been
