  1. Laureus Awards nominations. Great to see Rebeca Andrade nominated, but for Comeback of the Year??? Make it make sense.
  2. Updated with the results, only got 13/23 which is indeed my worst result ever. At least correctly predicted Picture, Director and all 4 acting categories Liked Anora but I think it was kinda overrated at this award season. It could be much worse though (Emilia Pérez).
  3. I'm ahead for sure (as the one who did worse ).
  4. People at the carnaval parades and parties stopped to watch the award I'm doing terrible at the predictions but I don't care. The trio of winners Flow + I'm Still Here + No Other Land is sooo good.
  5. I need to see Ibelin. Also a whole year has gone by and I still didn't watch Green Border. The only movie of your list I disliked is The Last Showgirl, but the others are good/great.
  6. If I were an Oscar voter, this would be my top 10: 1. I'm Still Here 2. The Substance 3. Challengers 4. Nickel Boys 5. The Seed of the Sacred Fig 6. All We Imagine as Light 7. Flow 8. Queer 9. Problemista 10. A Different Man Special Citation (Documentaries): No Other Land, Soundtrack to a Coup d'Etat Honourable Mentions: The Count of Monte Cristo, Dìdi, His Three Daughters, How To Make Millions Before Grandma Dies, Universal Language. 2023 movies I've only watched this year, but are top 10 worthy: Afire (maybe my favourite 2023 movie along with Past Lives), The Taste of Things, La Chimera, Red Rooms. Not watched (will try to catch some of these): Bird, Crossing, Ghostlight, Misericordia, The Remarkable Life of Ibelin, Souleymane's Story, Vermiglio, Việt and Nam.
  7. Don't know if anyone cares about this award, but I'm here once again with my annual Oscar predictions post. Last year I predicted 17/23 winners and this year it will probably be worse since I'm not certain about my predictions in many categories. Of course I'm more invested this year since for the first time ever we have a brazilian movie nominated for Best Picture, and could be our first win ever in any category (it has a shot in International Film, although I always expect the worst from the Oscars and the very worst this year is 'Emilia Pérez' ). For Best Picture, it's either 'Anora' or 'Conclave', a hard to call to make since I don't know which one is more liked (for me both are good if not memorable movies). I watched all 35 feature films and 15 short films nominated, so I leave a personal ranking of all the categories, as well as some names I wish were nominated. ["will win" is my prediction / "could win", my alternate prediction / "should win", my personal ranking / "shoud have been nominated", a way to remember other notable work].
  8. Every year I do track some of the categories (Best Paralympic Athlete, Best Youth Athlete, Best Doubles or Pair) and I see that voters really use them, so it would be nice to have something similar in other categories (or maybe a shortlist of 20 names or so). Of course that could only work if enough people are interested to participate in these committees, because some of them are kinda specific (like Best Non-Olympic Athlete).
  9. About the video: No, I don't hate winter sports, even though I don't follow them . The main reasons for not including them in the edit were 1) the year didn't have many world championships, so it's hard to find good footage; 2) there wasn't a single winter sports nomination. Also, I only had one day, so I thought it would be best to focus mainly on the Olympics and Paralympics with few clips of other athletes nominated.
  10. The Olympic and Paralympic year brought a lot of joy and emotional moments to Totallympics members around the world. As we say goodbye to our annual awards, here's hope that 2025 can also be a memorable year for all sports fans. For now, we'll remember the moments that brought us together in 2024, presenting this edition's theme song: "I Lived", by American band OneRepublic. Thank you all! Have a great year and until the next Totallympics Awards!
