  1. Brazil qualified the smallest number of teams (5) since the 80s, and the only realistic chance of medals with them is in Volleyball. Team sports usually dominate brazilian TV programming, so perhaps they'll focus more on other sports this time (although I wouldn't be surprised if they show men's football even without Brazil). Overall, I'm satisfied with individual sports, but I think we did very poorly with teams qualification.
  2. ITTF has published the final list of qualifiers by event in Table Tennis. Number of qualified athletes by NPC is available in the qualification tracker.

  4. I hope Bia doesn't do the same. She's having a pretty rough year.
  5. Sure, but maybe they should just say that they are prioritizing their ranking over the Olympics? (like every single Games) Of course every player may choose what's best for them, but it would absolutely piss me off if some player wouldn't play the Games because of something like this.
  6. With this team, I can confidently say that will be 1-2 on the women's podium.
  7. I'm sorry, but with tennis players there's always one big excuse that everyone uses. In 2016 it was the Zika virus (which turned out to be a big nothing), in 2021 it was the pandemic (when most of them were playing in other tournaments at the same time) and now it's the change of surfaces. Honestly, I wish they would just be real about it and say they don't care that much about the Olympics...
  8. Apparently sent a team of about 100 university athletes for this. Also, the city of Fortaleza is interested in hosting next year's Games.
  9. Something about African qualifiers having only 3 teams. was the replacing team.
  10. Men's Vinicius Rangel Women's Ana Vitoria Magalhães
  11. Men's Hugo Calderano (MT, MS) Vitor Ishiy (MT, MS, XD) Guilherme Teodoro (MT) Women's Bruna Takahashi (WT, WS, XD) Giulia Takahashi (WT, WS) Bruna Alexandre (WT) Bruna Alexandre will be the first brazilian to participate in the Olympic and Paralympic Games in the same year.
  12. After the final qualifier, Table Tennis qualification has been completed (waiting for bipartite invitations). 40 NPCs (+neutral athletes) have qualified. all qualified 10 or more athletes.
  13. After the final qualification regatta, Rowing qualification has been completed (waiting for bipartite invitations). 25 NPCs have qualified. all qualified 5 or more athletes.
  14. I was going crazy watching the match and the commentator calling her Ana "Krishna", like the Hindu deity. It reminds me of how some gymnastics commentators used to call Flavia Saraiva as Flavia "Sarajeva" (almost like the city).
  15. Just like argentinians are incapable of pronouncing Y like a normal human being?
  16. will host the 2027 Women's World Cup.
  17. After the World Championships, Para Canoe qualification has been completed. 30 NPCs have qualified (+ neutral athletes). all qualified 5 or more athletes.
  18. Nick Albiero (Swimming) has qualified for the Olympics!
  19. No one in the right mind would put that forgettable song in first, so yes.
  20. I like Olly but that song simply wasn't good.
  21. Is Israel really gonna win with that boring ass song?
  22. Hope wins, although it seems very unlikely.
