I still don't understand how Ecuador was able to win the qualification spot against Argentina having lost 1-11 to Brazil in that same championship. I think Argentina would have done a better job here.

I'm surprised also. If Brazil manages to win any medal in WAG, I will be more than happy.

About the "abandoned" venues, Maracanã is having regular matches from some time now (of course the field was a mess after Olympics, but now is back to normal). Also, all the five temporary swimming pools have been dismantled (even the pictures show that) and are on their way to multiple cities across Brazil - the only thing left is the Arena "skeleton" which should be gone soon since we have the Rock in Rio festival in September. Don't ask me about the golf course, though. Anyway, here's the project for the Rock in Rio festival, for which I bought tickets. Can't wait to be back at the Olympic Park, even if it isn't for a sports-related event...

Mathematically, Brazil can qualify Tuesday with the following combination of results: - if Brazil wins against Paraguay AND - if Colombia wins against Ecuador AND - if Venezuela wins against Chile. So, extremely unlikely. We'll have to wait until August.

Yesterday started the 2017 Parapan American Youth Games, which are being held at the recently opened Brazilian Paralympic Training Centre in Sao Paulo. For those who are interested, here's the official site (first medal events are happening today).

According to some authorities, Peru might have to postpone the Pan American Games, or even not host at all. The priority is the people affected by the floods, and I think they're correct in this decision. I just don't know which city would want to host this. Buenos Aires, maybe? (they will have the venues from YOG)

I hope they're know what they're doing because Rio tried to do something "innovative" with the Olympic medals but in the end the IOC didn't allow it, so we had that very standard medals - at least the Paralympics medals went according with was planned.
