  1. This sounds fun, but if I was a new user seeing the "Le Cafe" thread, I wouldn't know what that was about, and I probably wouldn't even click on it to find out
  2. But that would be for the Politics thread, not to the general chat?
  3. Well, yes, that's because you're a sport aficionado - which I am, but maybe 20% of what you are, so not really (?) Anyway, I don't follow most sports, so sometimes when I want to know certain result about a competition that happened recently, I just go to the results site and see the thing. I think maybe the site should focus on bigger competitions (world and continental) since not everything is important in my point of view - but maybe it is for other people, so who knows. And, talking about smaller sports and competitions that don't have well-known websites for results, I suggest you see the Paralympics section threads, if you are interested of course - maybe because I post the results there and some things are almost impossible to find!
  4. Posted the Paralympic Sports 2018 Calendar for those who are interested. This year will have many world championships and we'll know the first athletes and teams (aside from Japan) qualified for Tokyo 2020.
  5. Agreed, but it seemed like there was a big problem with the word "Thread" and, honestly, I don't think it was Totallympics moderators who invented that Personally, I think the threads work in the exact same way with or without the word, so I'm gonna suggest @Sindo that it's not really necessary. I agree with some things (again, the diss about the results forum is unnecessary), but in most cases I think the original information posted by the users isn't deleted, but maybe modified to include some things. In the sections about the Olympic Games, for instance, you can see multiples threads in which Sindo just included a logo, but kept the info wrote by the poster in the opening post. Maybe we can all have a discussion about what's best. Personally, I like to see at least the logo of the competition in the first post (there have been some cases in which even the users have asked us to include a logo), because it gives a general feel about the competition. I agree that every single thing doesn't need to have the same format, but some direction might be necessary to avoid turn things messy.
  6. - Agreed, but I feel the word "Thread" is mostly used in general threads, like "Music Thread", "Movies Thread" or whatever, which is quite common in some other places (like skycrapercity, for instance). I don't see what's the big problem with the word, it's fine with it, and it's fine without it. Maybe it should be deleted if you guys are so pissed by it. - You suggest a link to an official site, but then goes on about how users don't want to click on links - which seems, to me, a diss on the results forum. Honestly, when the "format" for Opening posts was discussed, it was decided that it was just better a simple image and maybe the link for the results site (and, sometimes, just the image), because we didn't want a format for shedules or anything else - it would be just more work that frankly most users don't want to do. But people are free to post whatever they want, including a schedule like you did in some threads. - If the news are, ideed, "big", no problem whatsoever. - Maybe there are a few changes, but I almost never see threads getting deleted. For instance, I never deleted one thread on this site (except for spam threads). So people are welcome to open more threads. Someone said that wanted to open something about history of sports and that's great, as it is to open threads about "personal projects" etc. You talk about a "strict format", but we don't have a format for Non-Olympic section and some others - as far as I'm concerned, the "format" can be seen only in some general and competition threads.
  7. Curling / Figure Skating / Freestyle Skiing Always liked the first two, probably because are the sports (alongside Ice Hockey) that I can easily follow the most important championships on brazilian channels (Figure Skating actually had the bigger audience here in the Sochi Olympics). Hard to pick a third since I don't really follow any of the others, but I liked Freestyle Skiing in the last Olympics.
  8. Maybe they can also win one of the long distance events in Athletics, but probably they will end with the least amount of gold medals won by a host nation in quite some time.
  9. So Peru chose this? Didn't know they were good in Bodybuilding. I remember Brazil went with Futsal in 2007 which was a good choice (gold), but it was only ONE event.
  10. That made sense last year
  11. Merry Christmas for those who celebrate it! Here's a song from the queen of Totallympics
  12. Any post with "fora Temer" gets my like
  13. Russia vs Saudi Arabia as the opening match... so exciting!
  14. So sad these very stylish clothes won't be used
  15. Women's Handball IHF World Championship 2017 Various Cities (GER) - 1 December 2017 - 17 December 2017 Totallympics Results Thread
  16. Jesus Christ, my eyes... they hurt!
  17. A different nation in every edition, nice. Can't recollect our votes before 2015, though.
  18. After Ireland's debacle in football this week, I feel @OlympicIRL really deserved this It would be interesting to see someone from Americas win, but we couldn't help our preference was with Chile and (to a lesser extent) Argentina, and not with the two countries that could have benefited from our votes. But still great to see three representatives from the continent in the top 5
  19. Brazil After months of bribing, off the record conversations and straight up verbal assaults, @heywoodu finally managed to get 12 points from Brazil! Just kidding, of course. Both I and @titicow felt this was a really great song and a perfect choice for the gold medal. Congratulations! Netherlands 12 Ireland 11 Chile 10 Tunisia 9 India 8 New Zealand 7 France 6 Croatia 5 Portugal 4 Denmark 3 Argentina 2 Estonia 1 Mal podemos esperar para sediar o próximo Totallympics Contest! Boa noite a todos! ------------------------------------------------------------ Brazil can't wait to host the next Annual Song Contest in 2018! Good night, everyone!
