OlympicIRL got a reaction from Josh in Swimming Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024
A quick Google search says he was banned for 4 years and 3 months from February 28th, 2020, so assuming his ban ends at the end of May of this year. The qualification period runs until June 23rd so theoretically he could qualify but it is beyond unlikely to be honest.

In the end South Korea didn't join us this time, but in answer to your question, TISC Open 2015 was the last time we had 3 debuting nations: Algeria, Moldova and Portugal joined the fold on that occasion.
Significantly though, Albania and Guatemala are our newest debutants since Israel joined back in TISC Annual 2020. It took 4 years to find a new debutant so it's great to have them here

This isn't correct, Hiltz was born female, identifies as "non-binary" but still competes in the women's division. There was a footballer called Quinn who was part of the team that won gold at the Olympics who was the same

I'd advise fact checking such things before making arguements against athletes...
"Hiltz was assigned female at birth but doesn’t identify with either binary gender, rather identifying as nonbinary and using they/them pronouns."

Nice to see the flags making prominent appearances throughout the championship. Too bad those flags were hanging in the stands rather than being paraded around the track in celebration

honestly realistically there is heaps of favourites, but only a handful of locks. Upsets happen so often at the Olympics so I’d be more interested in a page predicting upsets.

Never ceases to amaze me how every Olympics you get these badly-worded qualification documents. It's really not that hard to specify the rules clearly, at least employ someone who can do a better job

OlympicIRL got a reaction from Fer GUA in Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024 Tripartite Invitation Places
I was doing some research on which nations might be eligible for Tripartite invitation places for Paris 2024 should the same criteria be used this time round as previously.
The tripartite eligibility criteria for Tokyo 2020 was such that invitation places would only be allocated to NOCs with an average of 8 or fewer athletes in individual sports / disciplines in the previous 2 editions of the Olympics (London and Rio). This means 92 NOCs in total were eligible for tripartite invitation quotas.
So if we use the same criteria this time, a total of 94 NOCs would be eligible.
Botswana, Kosovo and Pakistan would no longer be eligible in this Olympic cycle as they have gone above the average of 8 individual athletes at the previous 2 editions.
On the otherhand, 5 nations that were ineligible last time would now be eligible in this Olympic cycle: Congo, Cook Islands, El Salvador, Iceland, Lebanon.
Obviously this isn't anything official, I am just speculating based on previous criteria but it's fun to look at such things, right?

Spanovic & Sawyers have blasted the take-off zone idea. Let's see how WA tries to ignore them because of course they will
Foul jumps ARE the drama of long jump and well, TV is glued to showing the track and ignoring the field since many, many years so don't even get me started what a waste of time in this sport really is.
