  1. Unlike 1984, they don't have as much influence on other nations to follow suit.
  2. Romania needs a much bigger win (>20 goals) to reach the OQT. Only 1 third place team that's not Brazil will go to the OQT. The goal differential of Hungary and Montenegro are quite high while Croatia would have more points and thus will finish ahead of Romania no matter the goal difference. Technically by 40+ goals
  3. Yes Croatia will finish at least 9th should they get a win and will compete at the OQT
  4. So the continental OQT quotas are as follows. Africa: Asia: Europe: (or should Montenegro qualifies via the World Championships and if Spain is also qualified then ) Pan America:
  5. Due to their goal differential, they would likely need to defeat by something like 20-30 goals They will qualify through the European Championships though
  6. Should've waited a couple of hours so that Group IV could have been solved. Since Brazil only won against Czechia by 3, they are eliminated. Spain needs to defeat the Netherlands in order to reach the quarterfinals or they are eliminated and can only qualify to the OQT via the European Championships.
  7. If you make the quarterfinals then you are guaranteed at least a spot in the OQT. and are already qualified to the Olympics, should they make the quarters is also already qualified (they need to beat by 6 goals and hope beats ). Additionally, the winner (or second place should France win) qualifies to the Olympics. Should win then gets the European quota. Currently, are in the quarterfinals. One spot will go to or . Croatia needs to defeat Hungary while Montenegro loses to Sweden (probably the more likely scenario). The other two spots are between . Here's what the table looks like: Winners 1. 2. 1. * 2. * 1. 2. ** 1. 2. * Spain must defeat the Netherlands by 4 goals to eliminate Czechia or they are eliminated. Czechia can only finish second. If they defeat the Netherlands by 11 goals then they finish first and Netherlands finish second. If they defeat the Netherlands by 19 then the Netherlands are eliminated and Czechia finishes second. ** Brazil must defeat Czechia by six goals to finish second, if not then Czechia finishes second. Overall, the Netherlands are pretty much safe barring a complete collapse against Spain. The second team is quite open. Additionally, one (or two should Brazil make the quarterfinals) third place team will qualify to the OQT. Looking at the standings, should Group IV end with Spain & Czechia winning then the third place team will finish 9th. Should that not happen and both Croatia and Montenegro win their final matches then Croatia will finish 9th. Should Croatia win and Montenegro lose (and the Group IV scenario doesn't happen) then Montenegro will very likely finish 9th. Should Croatia lose and the Group IV scenario doesn't happen then Hungary will likely finish 9th. Overall are pretty much in the OQT while the remaining three spots could go to . Minus whoever qualifies here.
  8. The joys of the men's sevens series. One day you can't buy a win and the next you are unstoppable.
  9. The events with only or eligible are still good, they met the minimum standard at the 2023 World Championships. Obviously the events with no eligible nations will be reallocated. For the ILCA 7 only one quota will be awarded (assuming World Sailing does change the qualification protocol again)
  10. It sets a dangerous precedent for the IOC to allow them to compete under their flag. Places with sports federations would use it to justify including them at the Olympics. The Faroe Islands and Macao have been dying to get included in the games. It also complicates things that they are spread across two nations so you can't compromise with two Canadian or American teams. While Canada and the United States consider them to be their own quasi-nations the rest of the world does not. Kosovo needed about half the world to recognize it before it was let in.
  11. Canada and the United States support Haudenosaunee Nationals for 2028 Olympics Not surprised about the support, but I find it unlikely the IOC will allow it. At best they might let them compete as independent individuals.
  12. It's the benefit of an Olympic medal, even if it was one of the luckiest medals we won, it still counts. Hopefully they can take this opportunity and develop one of our weakest winter Olympic sports
  13. In boxing, the quality from Australia is still good enough to justify a continental quota. It's not like this is wrestling.
  14. According to this document there's additional requirements. Have at least one more unqualified NOC than boat quota places offered to be a valid qualification event OR be a valid qualification event if one (1) boat from an entered NOC finished in the top 90% of boats in the Event at the 2023 Sailing World Championships. Women's kite is fine since finished 44/53, but as you said the women's IQFoil will be reallocated, even if enters the world ranking lists (unless they change the rules again).
  15. The 49er, 49erFX and Nacra 17 were reallocated to the last chance regatta. The 470's qualifier is a different event.
  16. I believe only the winner of the Grand Slam is eligible. Should the winner already be qualified the quota goes to the 6th ranked person.
  17. Quarterfinals for Dubai SVNS Men v v v v Women v v v v
  18. Watch out Europe, Africa is coming for you! Not sure if this will continue, but I love the surprise.
  19. was close against , lost 30-29. Maybe they can do something against tomorrow
  20. My hope for qualifying has been fulfilled. Not much else can stop the Australian train.
  21. I didn't realize sailing has a minimum entry restriction. That could cost a quota in the women's kite should no one else register in time.
  22. I swear, Sweden not getting the Winter Olympics has to be entering meme territory now...
  23. There's so much misinformation in the news. I saw one site claim that Nigeria will compete in the women's C1 500m, which isn't even an Olympic event.
  24. Yeah, the conditions are not very strict. The athletes which cite the conditions as a reason for not playing at the Olympics, probably weren't keen at playing anyway.
