  1. It would go to the athlete with the highest score in their final heat so currently Lucia Machado (assuming Janire doesn't finish in the top 2)
  2. Perhaps in the future, but given the fact she failed to qualify to the World League, she's still behind the top surfers. I look forward to seeing her in 2028. From a qualifying to the Olympics perspective surfing had one of the lowest chances, but that's more due to our versatility. Right now we are on pace at qualifying in 28/32 sports. Not many nations have that kind of reach. Modern pentathlon could have someone if Fitzsimmons competes at the World Cups while sport climbing is quite unlikely. Field Hockey and Handball obviously has no chance now.
  3. Realistically, surfing is still one of our weaker sports. The fact we have anyone competing is a pleasant surprise. Based on her performance over the past year Brooks' silver medal last year was more of a fluke and unlikely to be replicated.
  4. Isn't it great when small nations like the United States get free quotas?
  5. Lucky for her she'll have at least a week to travel and settle. With that said she's a long shot at qualifying in surfing.
  6. Quite excited to see what Nemour can do at the Olympics
  7. 0 - 0 Sad that one of those teams will miss the Olympics. Hopefully they'll expand the tournament to 16 to match the men's.
  8. No, it'll be called "Pentathlon Xtreme" and any time the commentator says the name, they have to yell it and a loud electric guitar riff is played.
  9. I wouldn't mind a double elimination tournament just so we don't risk people getting eliminated too early.
  10. We can give options, but sometimes it's difficult to give an accurate picture. In the past, sport federations have given quotas to athletes which did not compete at a high level. For example judo tripartite quotas have been awarded to athletes with no world ranking points.
  11. The wording makes no sense since as you said, the second statement means athletes under the age of 30 would be allowed to compete in more than 2 Olympics, which is obviously not the intention by World Aquatics or else they wouldn't have written the first statement. It's almost a paradox. I think they meant "and" instead of "or"
  12. The wording is a bit awkward. It's written that athletes under the age of 30 can only compete in two Olympics through universality. It's then implied that over 30 year old athletes can compete in more Olympics. It's a dumb rule in my opinion and hurts a small handful of athletes in their mid to late 20s who may be excluded during what may have been their peak Olympics
  13. No, they are reallocated as tripartite quotas. Only if they are not awarded they will be given to the next ranked nation in the Olympic Rankings.
  14. Yeah, my assumption was the singles rankings would remain constant. If Sweden goes from 16th to 15th then they will qualify to the Olympics.
  15. Thailand should get a boost in points since they will finish at least 9th vs. getting 19th in 2022.
  16. The R32 matches are completed on the women's side. The current top 9 non-qualified nations is as follows: Assuming I calculated things correctly, and would need to reach the quarterfinals in order to make the Olympics.
  17. This is after removing points obtained from the 2022 Team World Championships. So teams which made the R16 or further in 2022 have currently lost points while teams with a poor 2022 (like Nigeria and Denmark) have increased in points already. We'll have a clearer picture tomorrow as to who has qualified to the Olympics.
  18. Here are the 9 nations currently in line for the Olympic quotas via World Rankings (some will qualify by reaching the quarterfinals): Men Nigeria will drop off after the first round of the knock-out is completed, the next highest ranked nation is . Women Likewise, Puerto Rico can no longer gain any more points and needs to rely on a few low ranked nations winning their first round match in order to qualify.
  19. She might be tired, it's been quite a week for here. That or Angus is about to pull a 1:05 cementing women's breaststroke as our strongest discipline
  20. Does anyone know how the ranking of athletes not in the A or B final works? finished 8th in the men's K1 1000m semifinal while finished 9th, but Cook Islands had the faster time. The men's C1 1000m quota went to
  21. Looks like it. Almost every pair, the stronger team went to Group B.
