  1. Women's volleyball is another bad example. Even with continental spots the women have not qualified unless Canada or the United States were host. Funny, enough 2024 is our best chance in a long time and if we qualify it won't be because of a continental spot. After a more in-depth search, I believe only football and shooting would be missed. 26/32 sports is still more than most nations.
  2. Even if Canada was in Europe, we'd still be in most sports. Like easily 20+, likely around 25. Off the top of my head, we'd probably fail to qualify in shooting and football. Among disciplines we'd probably miss open water swimming and canoe slalom. Everything else we'd have a representative. Yes, Canada benefits from not being in Europe, but we are still good at qualifying.
  3. The tripartite quota on the women's side is quite competitive. Currently in the top 400 we have: Lina Gjorcheska (239) Danka Kovinic (241) Kathinka von Deichmann (277) Francesca Curmi (311) Sada Nahimana (336) Victoria Jimenez (364) While I would love Burundi to get the quota and help boost tennis in Africa, Liechtenstein might force the tripartite committee's hand. They aren't eligible to send a swimmer and they don't compete in athletics (when was the last time they competed at a World Championships?) so without a tripartite quota they won't compete at the Olympics. Outside of tennis their most likely tripartite quota would be in mountain biking. Also Liechtenstein has a higher ranking than Burundi so that may also play into their hand.
  4. Japan might be forced to use some of their relay only swimmers in the individual events. They are only allowed up to 12 relay only swimmers.
  5. If they split up the West Indies it could be a good tournament. Not sure if there's a cricket field in
  6. Home | Antalya 24 | World Athletics Race Walking Team Championship
  7. I know money can be an issue for nations, but if it wasn't I would try to have a representative in each event if possible. That goes for all sports. While Canada isn't a top 10 nation on the medal table, our diversity in sports puts us in the top 10. We are on pace in appearing in at least 28/32 sports and 41/47 disciplines. That wouldn't happen if we decided that since we aren't great at shooting, no one should go.
  8. While I understand (but still dislike) having a specific meet or meets to achieve the OQT, these nations which create even harder times is ridiculous. It's not like FINA made the OQT easy to get either. Imagine if Japan was as strict in other sports as it is in swimming, their team would be like 50-75 athletes rather than the near 300 they would normally get.
  9. So back to handball... Close match, but Hungary seems to have the advantage so far.
  10. So close for , standing up to strong European teams is no easy feat. v should be a good match.
  11. Technically they don't have to fast because they fall under the travelers exception (assuming they are away from their home for more than 5 days). Granted many athletes still fast.
  12. Israel is qualified in the ILCA6. Here's the official list of qualified nations
  13. Clearly Ghana picked correct for its host sport
  14. Men's recurve finals Matheson vs. McLean was down 0-4, came back to tie it 4-4, but lost the fifth set. Could have been an interesting final given that the top seed also lost.
  15. Women's recurve finals Edmundson vs. Harrison
  16. Women's recurve semifinals Edmundson vs. Prasad Walter vs. Harrison
  17. Men's recurve semifinals Ryan vs. Matheson Jensen vs. McLean
  18. It's nothing about Argentina choice. The rules say the highest ranked boats get the quota, only when there is a tie the nation gets to choose. Argentina finished 3rd in W1x while the lightweight boats finished in the top 2.
  19. The quotas go to the following nations: M1x - LM2x - W1x - LW2x -
  20. Ranking round is over. are the top 3 in the men's recurve. are the top 3 in the women's recurve. Unsurprisingly, New Zealand has a huge lead over the Pacific Nations
  21. "Eritrea at the 2024 Summer Olympics" Due to some fighting between users the page was under draft for months despite many other nations being allowed to have a page.
  22. Due to the constraints, The United States is forced to play the OQT Puerto Rico winner (Lithuania/Italy/Puerto Rico)
  23. So due to the continent limit, Germany will be drawn with Canada or Japan or potentially both. If it ends up being both then we are all forced to play Australia. Also while they say both the United States and France will be drawn into Group B or C, they didn't explicitly say they had to be separated.
