  1. Malaysia and Eritrea have now officially qualified! https://data.fis-ski.com/dynamic/olympic-quotas-list.html?sectorcode=al&listid=2018
  2. Well it is as the NBA season is held during the winter. The Canada Games for ex. has this model. Some summer sports like synchronized swimming, judo etc. are held during the 'winter edition'
  3. Interesting proposition: Make hockey a Summer Olympic event: Opinion Maybe this is the future of the Summer Olympics (to move some indoor events to the Winter Olympics)
  4. Precisely the reason they are bidding together. If all three bid separately and you had one bid from Africa, you would risk vote splitting and allowing Africa to win.
  5. Announced a three way bid for the 2026 World Cup http://www.canadasoccer.com/2026-fifa-world-cup-canada-usa-and-mexico-declare-intention-to-submit-unified-bid-p160713
  6. Canada's swim team was announced for the 2017 World Championships Arguably the best ever women's team . Multiple medals are expected. However the men's team is literally the weakest ever. Only 5 individual swims have qualified. The two strongest men are not competing Cochrane (retired) and Condorelli (unsure, but rumours are he is switching to compete for Italy).
  7. Canada wins gold at the men's worlds (and in undefeated fashion)!
  8. You can only blame the IOC. Off course all federations want new events, and with the IOC wanting gender equal events, you will get these ridiculous events being proposed. What's next mixed team events?
  9. Kylie Masse 0.09 off the WR https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C8xu9h5XgAAmkJe.jpg
  10. half marathon as in no more race walking.
  11. No NHL in PC2018 Canada's women's team doesn't look good so 0 golds for Canada...
  12. Australia used it in 2010 in the women;s bob, after the FIBT refused to give them a quota. So Ireland got bumped, but they got reinstated due to the FIBT's error.
  13. That's interesting. There was an article written (and even the FIS website) showing he retired. I'd assume the Bermuda Olympic Association asked him back as there really isn't any other athete close to competing for them atp.
  14. Yea exactly why I don;t like it as much. Didn't fully capture the full essence of the city.
  15. The City of Toronto released a tourism ad a couple weeks ago (I am not too big of a fan, but its gotten a lot praise). What does everyone else think
  16. Canada officially qualifies 3 pairs For ice dance and women's its almost certain 3 quotas each. For the men if Kevin Reynolds moves up there would be 3 there as well. I cannot recall the last time a country had a full quota for the Olympics...
  17. Asia should get 7 spots max. Africa 10. Everything else is fair imo
  18. Wasn't their a rule that anyone that didn;t qualify for the long program would be ranked 17th .. so in that case France would qualify 2?
  19. Rachel Homan (and team) 13-0 and new World Champ
  20. It was sarcasm, and Buddhist terrorism is alive in Sri Lanka and Myanmar among other places I am sure. Religion unfortunately brings out the worst in ppl...
  21. Islam is the religion of peace!!!!!!!!!1111111
  22. More funding increases: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/canada-athletes-raise-funding-1.4037050
  23. has officially qualified. 73 nations are qualified right now. The following should qualify (all have athletes meeting part of the standard/good enough to qualify): That leaves us with 88 nations that should qualify (hopefully all of them choose to compete). The following have athletes just outside qualification and may qualify: So a record 95! might be competing in 2018. Unlikely to qualify atp:
  24. Spain's third athlete would have to meet minimum standards anyways
