  1. I think its unfair to characterize them as liars. They legitimately became citizens of Dominica (owing to the country's lax citizenship laws) and competed in five races each to qualify....
  2. had an athlete (the same male who competed in Sochi) meet the qualification standard in his first race back. So they are likely to qualify if he keeps up the pace.
  3. Hosszu 7 golds Canada with 8 medals, and I guess another female talent discovered in Kelsey Wog in the 200m breast...
  4. Quoting myself to correct a mistake lol. Gambia is sending a delegation but no athletes.
  5. North Korea is competing at the Short track speed skating World Cup this weekend in Shanghai. Seems like their skaters have decent times.
  6. Sri Lanka isn't a member, but it appears only the ISU has blocked participation. Here is the article the journalist wrote
  7. It was a private conversation with a journalist...
  8. Sri Lanka's biathlete for the Asian Winter Games is Sajeev de Silva, who competed in rowing at the 2010 Asian Games, then switched to archery and then finally to rifle shooting. Now he will be competing in biathlon!
  9. I think this is a mistake. Also the list of nations is down from the original amount and I beleive Gambia is a part of this list.
  10. World Short Course championships start tomorrow in Windsor Entry list
  11. Instead of field hockey, this sport should be on the Olympic program
  12. 29 nations (a record high) will compete at the 2017 Asian Winter Games. Iraq and Cambodia were scheduled to compete in skating disciplines but were not approved by the ISU, and Afghanistan indicated early interest but did not enter a team. Also missing is Uzbekistan, which is interesting. Bahrain China Democratic People's Republic of Korea Hong Kong China India Indonesia Iran Japan Kazakhsta Republic of Korea Kyrgyzstan Lebanon Macau, China Malaysia Mongolia Nepal Pakistan Philippines Qatar Singapore Sri Lanka Chinese Taipei Tajikistan Thailand Timor-Leste Turkmenistan United Arab Emirates Vietnam Curling teams: Men: 6 teams (:KOR: South Korea, China, Chinese Taipei, Kazakstan, Qatar, Japan) Women: 5 teams (:KOR South Korea, China, Kazakstan, Qatar, Japan )
  13. Ski Sports Alpine Skiing (12) - This is a guess, (6 of each gender) Cross Country Skiing (7) - 4 men, 3 women; total guess Ski Jumping (4) - 2 men, 2 women Nordic Combined (0) - Sport is pretty much non-existent here. Freestyle Skiing (30) - Maximum team size Snowboarding (16) - Across all events Biathlon (10) - Should be a full team Skating Sports Speed Skating (14) - 7 per gender, this is arguably the weakest speed skating team I can remember from Canada (minus our Dutch friend) Short Track Speed Skating (10) - full team in each gender Figure Skating (16) - 2 in each singles category, 3 in each couples event Sleigh Sports Luge (7) - 2 in men's singles, 3 in women's, 1 doubles. Skeleton (4) - Canada's skeleton team is not where it used to be, predicting 2 in each gender. Bobsleigh (12) - Two in each event. Team Sports Curling (10) - Well this is self explanatory Ice Hockey (48) - See above Total Optimistic Prediction - (230) Total Pessimistic Prediction - (180) Total Realistic Prediction - (200)
  14. Vietnam in alpine skiing (they will also compete in snowboarding and figure skating at the 2017 AWG, but unlikely to qualify for 2018)
  15. The Ghanian skeleton rider was a few seconds back of his closest competitor in his first race, so it seems highly unlikely he qualifies (unless there is a drastic improvement).
