    Not shocking. You get money and you spend it on what is not needed and that results in no good results here. Their funding will literally be next to nothing next cycle, coupled with this media article, I think its safe to say there will be major changes.

    Also means we will see like 50%+ of the funding going to swimming and athletics for the next quad. Canoeing is the biggest loser here, 3 to 0 medals. The RBC Olympian program is apparently identifying the next rowers and canoeists, and it found the next gem in athletics (Pierce LePage in decathlon).

    Yea... I think its unfair that men's categories have to suffer in the name of gender equality. There is a reason why there is no gender equality... because a lot of the women sports are not as competitive yet!

    Agree with this! This sport gives so many opportunities for smaller nations and should be expanded. Adding 32 athletes in the grand scheme of things is not a lot.

    Garcia has drawn Ramonov of Russia in the first round. He is the defending world bronze medalist. In 2013 Garcia beat him.

    Also looks like Canada is safe into tenth place in the overall medals table. Its doubtful Netherlands,Brazil, South Korea or New Zealand pass now.
