Well, Isabell Werth broke this due to COVID. First 1992, now 2021.
Admittedly I know nothing about dressage I maybe watched 5 minutes of this sport in my entire life.

With this bronze Karolina Naja becomes only the 8th athlete to win at least four Olympic medals. This enters her among legendary names of Polish sports and 90% of this country wouldn't even recognize her on the street
Some Hungarians might know that but Pawłowski & Woyda are fencers (the former even CIA agent no less).

Out of curiousity, what's the biggest gap between one athlete's two gold medals?
I would assume 16 years, 20 seems a little unlikely?
28 years. Aldar Gerevich in fencing (first 1932, last 1960). I know you asked for something different but technically it's fairly impressive.

With no gold medals in between it's probably Anthony Ervin in swimming (2000-2016).

Well, here it is. Women's K4 500m FA. Anything but another 4th place like in London
-

-
Queiroz wins C1 1000m gold! silver holds on for bronze!

I can only assume is one of the weaker teams here. probably higher-rated due to being former Soviet Union

Basically it's the biggest mistake they could have had. Still, a considerably big score: over 40.
I don't like their routine, though. Very little choreography, just like Belarus.Yes, I can imagine losing the object is the biggest mistake possible. Watched some RG fails last week and ball & hoop seem to provide the biggest drama since they have a tendency to roll/bounce away

Ko got a chance for the gold and she immediately crumbled.
Ko choking is far more familiar sight indeed

loses the ball. I have no idea how big of a penalty that is
-
Do all group events take place with the ball? Or was this the object selected for the Games?
-
-
Korda leads Ko by three. It's funny, if it was Ko leading by this margin I'd say there is a chance for some meltdown. I don't see a choke from Korda though but you never know.

14th for Nadolska. That's way above expectations.

Chopra 87,03 in javelin Round 1. Only 5cm off his PB. Polish ES think that could be good enough for a medal already.
