Finally, after 33 years my dream as Vball fan comes true

and this ended Slovakia's participation at the Tokyo Games. With 41 athletes (the smallest delegation ever) we succeeded to win 4 medals, which is for our country an amazing achievement. At the start of the games I was not confident we will win any single one, maybe the M Canoe Slalom C1, which as you know did not happen. it is one of the (if not the) most dissapointing moment of this games. For the fist time ever we did not win a medal in this discipline. but, yeah, let turn this post in someting positive and good. So team won in Tokyo 4 medals at the end (1-2-1) which is fantastic. We keep alive our streak at the Summer olympics, we won medals at every SOG we participated as Slovakia. 1996 - 3 (1-1-1) 2000 - 5 (1-3-1) 2004 - 6 (2-2-2) 2008 - 6 (3-3-0) our most successful games 2012 - 4 (0-1-3) our worst games, only time without gold. 2016 - 4 (2-2-0) and now 2020(1) - 4 (1-2-1)

Probably, this is clearly our "happyest" result in all this bad olympic games for our country, thanks for this guys...... Now we are in the same position with in the medal count

That's it for at the Olympics. We won 14 medals overall - tying the Sydney 2000 haul. 9 medals is the most we've ever won in athletics at OG too (previous best was 8 in... Tokyo 1964 ). Our most successful OG athletics in medal quality was 4-0-0 in Sydney where we also swept the hammer and Korzeniowski won two golds in race walking. Fast forward 21 years and we swept the hammer again and won 50k walk too. These are our most successful SOG in XXI century (4-5-5) beating Beijing 2008 (4-5-2). Party time!!!

It's not a shock. She was a hands down gold favorite in Rio and couldn't compete. One missed OG is enough. She didn't have the best season in 2021 but she won OG anyway. I won't be surprised if she retires next year (unlike Chicherova who retired like three times).

Gold for India? Never mind then. I understand now why Totallympics is crashing...

These are our worst olympics in 30 years, yet we are going to secure our precious top 10. The handball and volleyball golds are really somthing that we will cheerish for the next hree years to come. Bring Paris 2024 ASAP

Interesting enough, an european team doesn't win the men's tournament since 1992 (Spain). the champions since then.

Well, things have fairly turned around. Rowing stunk up the first few days, but was the only serious failure. Athletics looked bad for a while, but our historically strongest events - middle distances & relays - just about rescued us. A huge number of success stories in sports major & minor, new & old. Far more gold than anyone predicted, far more medals than anyone predicted & a far higher placing in the medal than anyone predicted. And there’s far more good young athletes going forward to Paris than there will be retirees.

You can count me as the worst predictor here.

The Saudi guy was leading but then he kicked to the neck (or throat ) of our Karateka . in this sport you can't kick or punch with maximum power, there must be some control on it and in that action Tareq Hamdi completely knocked out Ganjzadeh and made him unconsciousness for few minutes. he got disqualified for that, that word "Hansoku" you can see in the results section means disqualification

This summer that's surely the answer to a lot of questions!
