  1. I think @dcro posted about seeing his profile a couple months back. If I remember right, his is/was living in Switzerland, but representing Nigeria.
  2. Interesting article about the national shooting team. I can’t say I see eye to eye with them on a few things...
  3. Spotter’s guide for the Rolex 24: https://spotterguides.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/SG_21_DAY_ONLINE.pdf
  4. Technically we’re registered with the IOC as Totallympics Media.
  5. I sincerely hope this is in contention for a animated short film nomination at the Oscars this year. A brilliant piece of storytelling. Highly recommend giving it a watch, it’s only 8 minutes in length.
  6. Königssee, Germany is set to host the 50th FIL Luge World Championships. The 50th FIL Luge World Championships are due to take place from January 29 to January 31, 2021. It has been confirmed by the FIL that 149 athletes will compete at the world championships. The women’s event will feature the most entires with 48 sliders competing for the world championship title. The men’s event will feature 43 entries, while the doubles event will feature 29 pairings. The nations represented at this year’s Luge World Championships are: Argentina, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Great Britain, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Korea, Latvia, Moldova, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Switzerland, Slovakia, Sweden, Chinese Taipei, Ukraine, and the United States of America. As a consequence of their state-run doping program, athletes from the Russian Federation will not be permitted to compete under their own flag, nor hear the anthem at the victory ceremonies. They will be allowed entry into the competition as neutral athletes, and will hear the FIL anthem should they stand on the top step of the podium. The Berchtesgaden track was chosen to host this years Luge World Championships, after the Covid-19 pandemic forced the FIL to reallocate the event from Whistler, Canada. As another consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic, no spectators will be allowed at the venue to watch the world championships in-person. Luge fans will be able to follow the 50th World Championships via live streaming and television production. The first televised events will be the sprint events on Friday. Luge fans can also catch a live stream of the virtual opening ceremony on Thursday evening courtesy of BSD-TV. The 50th FIL Luge World Championships will begin on Friday with the men’s, women’s, and doubles sprint events.
  7. Kinda the aim of the sanctions. Give the state consequences, but let the athletes compete.
  8. Our friends over at Olympedia have done some research on this. Here’s a list of those killed in concentration camps: http://www.olympedia.org/lists/3/manual Here’s a list of those who survived: http://www.olympedia.org/lists/4/manual
  9. Not an athlete, but felt this was worth posting.
  10. That just has to do with the nature of bouldering. For the most part climbers are working with smaller climbing faces, and the movements are very physical and technical in nature. I just don’t think that type of climbing would translate well to ice climbing.
  11. It’s awesome. Highly recommend watching replays from past World Cups.
  12. I wished I would have checked the website last week, since I missed the European Championships. It seems like there was less climbers than normal due to Covid. Here’s the podiums though: Men’s Lead - Gold: Louna Ladevant TOP Silver: Nikolai Kuzovlev TOP Bronze: Tristan Ladevant 19.330 Nikolay Primerov was the only other non-FRA/RUS finalist and he finished 4th. were the only countries not to make the finals. Women’s Lead - Gold: Maria Tolokonina 17.280 Silver: Sina Goetz 16.250 Bronze: Ekaterina Valsova 12.210 Enni Bertling (4th), Marion Thomas (5th), Aneta Louzecka (6th) were the other non-RUS/SUI finalists. was the only country not to qualify for the finals. Women’s Speed - Gold: Maria Tolokonina Silver: Irina Dubovtseva Bronze: Valeriia Bogdan The best of the rest was Aneta Louzecka in 4th.
  13. While we don’t have a lot of clubs, the Lake Tahoe area is still fairly accessible for many people. The 80 (or as non-Californian heathens would refer to it as, Interstate Highway 80) goes through Truckee, which is just north of Lake Tahoe and Squaw Valley. The 80 runs from Sacramento, CA to Reno, NV and then on.
  14. I’m now virtually 100% certain that’s what it is. Fasel is such an ass.
  15. Eurovision says that they’ll be live in 13 hours... That stream will be unavailable in France, Poland, and US though.
  16. Yeah, Fasel has floated that for a while now. I think he’s mad they refused to work with Belarus on hosting.
  17. Nope. If you’re looking results they’ll be available on the IBSF website. Utah Olympic Park is streaming the races on their YouTube channel.
  18. Not this year (yet). We’re like the one place that hasn’t gotten much snow. However, we’ve been slammed with some storms this week, and so there’s a little more now. First snow in the Sierra Nevada and Southern Cascades generally comes in October. Snow lasts well into April/May.
  19. I know right! I think we have one club in Tahoe. It’s one of the few sports that is near impossible to get into in California.
