  1. How so? Were there really people who thought that Ennaoui could win the gold here. Germany would have to win 2 golds to beat Poland. 1 is possible (3000 m SC), but a 2nd seems unlikely given how superior GB is in womens 4 x 100 m relay. Edit: GB might actually be the favorite. Both GB and Poland will get to 7 golds. So the question is whether the polish guys in pole vault/Kopron in womens hammer throw or McColgan in womens 1500 m are more likely to win silver here.
  2. You used the quotation marks wrong. It should be "junior" worlds. All of the african guys who beat him were in their 30s and probably already had children who are older than Jakob.
  3. Silver for Morocco!
  4. Weird womens 1500 m final without 2 of the 3 best european runners competing.
  5. I think he would still be the best polish sprinter, which of course is super sad.
  6. You are right about Krause probably. The idea was to have a super sunday for Germany with 6-7 medals (both relays, triple jump, pole vault, womens 1500 m, womens 3000 m SC, womens 5000 m), but that didnt work out. I think Ingebrigtsen would have still won at least 2 golds in those 3 events given the competition he currently has to face.
  7. You're welcome! The polish guy who ran last for Germany manipulated the relay on purpose to advance his czech friends to the final.
  8. Yes probably, Reus didnt step on him, although it almost looked as if he touched "the last german/polish" with his arm and that guy then lost his balance.
  9. What a performance by the german mens 4 x 100 m relay! Throwing away a safe silver medal ... Its sad for the athletes, but in the end they wouldnt have won the gold medal anyway + Reus and Jakubczyk already have a medal at european championships and Kranz/Domgola will win medals at european championships in the future.
  10. You could say that she has the world best for 13 year olds (6.11 m) and for 14 year olds (6.57 m). For 15 year olds the world best belongs to Heike Daute (Drechsler) with 6.64 m and all the other world U20 best also belong to her. 6.91 m for 16 year olds, 6.98 m for 17 year olds, 7.14 m for 18 year olds and 7.40 m for 19 year olds. Arneton has some work to do, but if she would break some of those records it would really send a signal considering the career Heike Drechsler had (Double olympic long jump champion).
  11. The same is true for Netherlands or Switzerland and there is more money in those countries + those countries are clearly better places to live + you get much better along with english there + you probably face people with a more welcoming nature. In the end this is a ridiculous discussion, we wouldnt lead it if Poland was the country competing with "foreign" athletes, then everything would be fine and we would be told that all of those athletes only compete for Poland because they love the country so much.
  12. Why would runners from ethiopia or morocco want to compete for Poland if they could compete for Germany/GB/France/Switzerland/Netherlands?
  13. 1) What does the way his brothers feel have to do with anything? 2) How do you know how his brothers feel? 3) You are saying that it was a joke and then you still say that his brothers feel polish, so obviously it wasnt a joke after all. 4) I would rather say this forum became a better place since you stopped posting so often, never commentining about sports but only trying to push through your "agenda".
  14. But was nowhere to be seen this year and saying that her best jump ever would have been enough for a certain place in one competition is pretty senseless. Of course i agree that she is a big talent. One of the biggest U18 talents in Europe, alongside N'keetia Seedo for example.
  15. You mean because of his last name? Like Baumgart is a german last name and therefore germany won a gold medal for Poland?
  16. The shot put competition does have nothing to do with the victory ceremony, so it makes no sense to even mention it here. The a capella national anthems were embarrassing indeed, but they already changed that. I am not surprised that polish athletes found a reason to criticize (given the political situation in Poland), but obviously they dont understand that athletics has to get closer to the actual people if it wants to keep their interest. The victory ceremony is bringing the athletes as close to the actual fans as never before and the huge majority of athletes was absolutely happy about this format for the victory ceremonies.
  17. Marathon is by far the worst discipline at european level, Mazuronak is by far the closest to being a world class athlete. On the mens side we have Farah and to some degree Moen. The times of Radcliffe and Mikitenko are long gone, but i am optimistic that Europe will win a marathon medal on the womens side in 2024, maybe even on the mens side if Ingebrigtsen decides to run marathon or if Wanders continues to improve.
  18. We will see about that, i am not sure if there has been ever such a dominant display at U18 level in Europe (until now). 2020 is unrealistic it seems, but 2024 seems reasonable, especially if the trend continues. On the mens side Germany is currently the 2nd best european nation when it comes to individual talent, the women seem to be behind that trend for some years, but i am optimistic that they will reach a good european level in the next 10 years or so.
  19. Then you clearly missed a lot, the athletes love it. For me the victory ceremonies here are the best i ever witnessed at a major competition.
  20. I am surprised to hear that i thought that Mazuronak was the clear favorite.
  21. So you can only name athletes from your own country? If so, then here is the list for Germany: -
  22. Germany is absolutely sensational in this age category, they could win a historic first title today. I think Germany, Spain, Latvia and Hungary are qualified for the U19 world cup next year, the 5th team will be decided today. Dont know if Germany ever qualified for a basketball world cup on the womens side before. If there will be a live stream next year i might very well watch womens basketball for the first time in my life then.
  23. Do you think that there might be a chance for Germany to qualify in womens basketball? Currently Germany is absolutely dominating at U18 level, but i guess those talents wont be ready to carry the senior team already. I think for 2024 Germany might have a realistic chance to qualify in womens basketball, but 2020 probably comes too early (i dont know how big the step from U18 level to senior level in womens basketball is though). I would love to see Germany qualify in rugby since thats my second favorite team sport at the olympics, but i am not sure whether there is actually a chance. I remember that Germany was not too far away from qualifying for Rio, would you say that the german chances are better this time?
  24. Very tricky conditions, but in the end the best athlete won. Ugen and Proctor are overrated, but they are still among the 4 best long jumpers in Europe together with Mihambo and Spanovic. In the qualification we also had no long jumps.
