  1. I think its ok that the US claimed the record, but its weird that the same person is holding the national record in two nations at the same time. It might get interesting once he jumps world record.
  2. On the one hand thats sad to hear, on the other hand i am still glad that i didnt predict womens 50 km race walking, maybe now IAAF will recognize the big injustice they caused and will get rid of this event again. Also i have to say that i expected to win this contest even with one less predicted event, but i got unlucky in too many events (for example in mens hammer throw i predicted Fajdek-Nowicki-Halasz, in womens shot put i predicted Schwanitz-Guba-Dubitskaya, in womens triple jump i predicted Papahristou-Peleteiro-Gierisch, in womens 200 m i predicted Asher-Smith-Samuel-Schippers, in mens 5000 m i predicted J.Ingebrigtsen-H.Ingebrigtsen-Crippa and in womens 1500 m i predcited Muir-Weightman-Ennaoui). Hopefully i will do better next time.
  3. What do you mean with "without Vetter and Visser"?
  4. Which record are we talking about? Its strange indeed that you can set an american record at european championships, but on the other hand Sweden basically had no part in developing Duplantis, so its only fair that the american federation recognizes it as their own record.
  5. I cant await the ticket sale to open, i hope to get my hands on some tickets for the following events: - Athletics: The day of womens 200 m or womens 5000 m final - Swimming: The day of mens 1500 m free or mens 200 m IM final - Tennis: From quarterfinals onwards, preferrably on the mens side - Basketball: Any game on the mens side with the US or Germany (if Germany qualifies) or any quarterfinal/semifinal - Track cycling: The day of mens sprint final - Equestrian: The day of individual/team jumping final - Fencing: The day of womens individual foil finals - Gymnastics: The day of womens balance beam final - Table tennis: The day of mens individual final Tickets seem rather expensive for athletics/swimming/gymnastics and of course basketball, but for cycling/equestrian the tickets should be rather cheap, so lets see, hopefully not too many other german fans will try to get tickets ...
  6. 1) Propz on getting both the first and last name of Jakob Ingebrigtsen wrong 2) What would you define as a star? Would you for example consider someone like Thomas Röhler a star? 3) What do you mean by future? Since you used Jakob Ingebrigtsen as an example, should we assume that athletes who are already world class can be considered future stars still? Someone like Penny Oleksiak can still be considered a future star despite already being an olympic champion?
  7. Would be interesting to know how many perfect predictions dunadan had. If i would have predicted womens 50 km race walking, then my prediction would have been gold for Henriques, silver for Takacs and bronze for the girl from Slovakia, so i would have had 208 points as well. I had 3 perfect predictions (womens heptathlon, womens 4 x 100 m relay and mens 400 m hurdles), which is pretty bad, so i guess dunadan would have won anyways.
  8. I think the maximum for Poland is 7-10 medals (4 in hammer throw, mens 800 m, womens 4 x 400 m, mens pole vault, womens javelin throw, womens shot put, mens shot put), 5 medals are very realistic.
  9. Yeah, the level will be indeed higher, especially at the olympics, but the goal for Germany has to be to stop the bad trend of the last olympics and world championships. From the medal winners here Przybylko, Hofmann, Röhler, Schwanitz, Hussong, Schäfer probably would win a medal at world championships/olympics too with their performances from this week. Mihambo, Gierisch, Jungfleisch, Roleder/Dutkiewicz, Krause and the womens 4 x 100 m relay will need some luck. Currently i dont see Lückenkemper (in the 100, in the 200 she might have a chance), the female discus throwers, Abele, Heinle or Storl winning a medal at world level and the same is true for the female pole vaulters (Ryzih, Spiegelburg and Otchere (despite her huge potential)) and Holzdeppe. Linke (5th at the 2016 olympics and the 2017 world championships), Heß, Kaul and Klosterhalfen have the potential to break through and win a medal. C. Harting and Kazmirek/Schrader will hopefully be back. I think 8 medals would be good, 10 medals would be great.
  10. Yeah, that was my point, amazing performance for Poland. I think they will also be the best european nation at the next big events, concerning number of golds, not number of medals. Poland has 2 pretty safe gold medals, which will be pretty hard for all other european nations to do. For Germany this was a good competition, although many medal contenders didnt deliver (Heß, Holzdeppe, C. Harting, Linke, Ringer, mens 4 x 100 m relay, Klosterhalfen) and others were missing due to injuries (Lisa Mayer, Lisa Ryzih, Silke Spiegelburg, Kai Kazmirek, Rico Freimuth, Michael Schrader). I think the best possible realistic result for Germany would have been 23 medals (19 + Heß/Harting/Linke/Klosterhalfen). Holzdeppe and the mens 4 x 100 m relay wouldnt even have won a medal if in top shape.
  11. Is it normal that we already have 30 more pages for this event than for athletics at the last olympics?
  12. I agree with you about this competition being far less important than the world champs/olympics, but i dont agree about most of the rest. How was Malachowski expected to medal? The same is true for mens 4 x 400 relay. For me GB and Belgium were probably the favorites for gold/silver and it was maybe 55/45 between Spain and Poland for bronze. In mens pole vault Lavillenie/Duplantis for me were the clear favorites for gold and silver. I thought bronze would be between the polish guys, Morgunov and maybe Holzdeppe, so maybe Poland was favorite to win bronze in the pole vault, but not the clear favorite.
  13. The rest of the sports year will be super boring, no important events left sadly.
  14. Interesting view, but ok ...
  15. But what about their relay?
  16. Of course i am well aware of that, but outdoors is a different thing (ask Maslak) and the polish guys just werent in as good a shape as the guys from Belgium/GB/Spain. It was pretty obvious even before the start of this competition.
  17. I asked a clear question. Who was expected to medal (according to the entry list for example) and didnt win a medal here?
  18. Maybe, although i didnt expect a medal for them. I considered Belgium, GB and Spain stronger. Thats maybe like saying that Holzdeppe not winning a medal here was disappointing.
  19. Organizers trying everything to prevent Poland from winning the medal table.
  20. Is Poland in athletics what Italy is in swimming? Has any polish athlete undeperformed here? Was there any polish medal contender who didnt medal?
  21. Breaking news: The organizers try to find a reason to disqualify all other nations from heat 2 of mens 4 x 100 m relay so that Germany makes the final. Thats the reason why it is taking so long.
  22. Only one medal for Germany, even worse than expected. This certainly isnt a german strength, but it could be a bit better. German athletes peak out of nowhere from now and then but noone is even remotely consistent.
  23. Good or bad? In my opinion slower than expected. Just sad that Germany had to compete with Haase, i think even if Lückenkemper would have run both the 2nd and 4th position, then Germany still would have had a faster time than 42.2. The future for Europe looks bright in this event anyway, i think the record will go down until 2024 the latest.
  24. Hopefully its not me, i wont accept the victory. I just entered for fun and thats also the reason why i didnt predict anything in womens 50 km race walking (for me this event doesnt exist).
  25. Would be stupid, but good to know.
