  1. No, Thompson for sure is an expert, but i think he just got emotional (like i did after Schwanitz lost the gold) because he saw an athlete from his country losing a medal and thought "All the other guys are much faster, why cant you run any faster" and he certainly had his own PB of 4:20 in mind. I would say you will have a hard time to find a normal person who is able to run sub 5:00 for the 1500 m.
  2. Depends on what you define as jogging pace ... 4:58 equals a time of about 33 minutes for the 10 000 m, which is roughly the speed of elite females.
  3. Maybe he did a Spanovic (if you know what i mean)?
  4. Close to 8 m, he deserved 4th place. The same happened with Heinles 4th attempt that was way beyond 7.77 m. Would be more interesting to know where Torneus is though ... ?
  5. Guba is miles away from being in medal contention at the olympics, unlike Schwanitz, so nothing to worry from a german perspective. In addition to that Germany has the 2015 U18 world champion (Julia Ritter), the 2017 U18 world champion (Selina Dantzler) and the 2016 U20 world champion (Alina Kenzel) in this event, so absolutely nothing to worry. At the last 2 youth world championships and the 2018 U20 world championships as well as the 2017 U20 european championships, the 2017 U23 european championships and the 2018 U18 european championships Germany was ahead of Poland in the medal table, so if anything Poland has to worry. At the moment Poland it looks as if Poland might win medals at the olympics in both hammer throws and maybe mens shot put, but once Wlodarczyk retires, it looks pretty dark. Kszczot is old as well and not a medal contender, the same is true for Malachowski. Lisek might surprise, but currently Lavillenie, Duplantis and Kendricks are clearly ahead of him. I think 4 medals are realistic for Poland at the next olympics. Germany on the other hand has 3 javelin throwers, C. Harting, mens decathlon, womens heptathlon, 20 km race walking, womens 4 x 100 m relay, Schwanitz, Dutkiewicz/Roleder and "sidekicks" like Gierisch, Mihambo, womens javelin throw or Storl and talents like Heinle, Lückenkemper, Klosterhalfen and so on. If you are really convinced that polish athletics is in a better state, i would like to offer you a bet: I say that Germany will win at least 2 more medals in athletics than Poland at the next olympics, are you in?
  6. He will compete at ISTAF in a couple of months. His little brother will take over with the self proclaimed goal of winning gold at the next 3 olympics.
  7. Over performing in the sense that she shouldnt have won gold here, but i want to try to be fair: Schwanitz and Storl only have themselves to blame, both underperformed, the polish athletes just were better prepared, although Haratyk also wasnt at his best. I still am sad that Bukowecki won a medal, i dont consider any of his performances to be legal. Congrats to Guba, she showed massive mental strength today. It just would be nice if polish athletes would leave some gold medals for Germany, its getting frustrating to see german athletes (Schwanitz, Ringer, Harting) fail miserably.
  8. There are a couple of guys like that, i just dont think its good for kids to have something like that as an idol. Athletes should inspire people to do more sport and therefore be more healthy, Stahl just inspires people to eat more pizza and burgers, not a good role model at all. The women in shot put werent much better, at least Schwanitz gave birth only recently, so she has an excuse, i am convinced that she will soon return to her former normal weight.
  9. Two african runners stealing a medal from Reh, among them someone who never should have been allowed to compete here, absolutely disgusting, swedish federation once again absolutely disgusting after how they handled the Aregawi case a couple of years ago. Always sad to see fat "athletes" winning medals, i hoped that Stahl wouldnt win a medal here. Also another polish athlete with a not surprising over performing ... Nightmare for Germany once again.
  10. Doing nothing for 6 years and then coming back like that is even more suspicious. A guy finishing 4th at U23 level just to win a medal at senior level one year later is fishy as well, personally i would never trust any athletes from Belarus.
  11. Didnt know that James Dasaolu competes for Italy now? When did that happen?
  12. Reminds me of the girl from Belarus who was world champion in 2013 or 2015 coming out of nowhere. Allowing Semenya to compete is certainly unfair to some athletes, but i am already afraid of the time she retires. We will probably see Wilson (who has been caught before) and random no-names winning the medals again.
  13. Yeah, how is that unfair?
  14. How i missed to see eastern european athletes peak out of nowhere ... Who are Zhuk and Ryzakhova?
  15. I think the rain ended already, another disadvantage for Kaul, he is obviously super pissed. Maybe he can at least do something special in the 1500 m run.
  16. Disappointing, he threw farther in Götzis while being injured on his finger, the rain might have very well destroyed his dream here, but i think he will get many more chances in the future.
  17. So ... would you say that the US/Canada are closer to for example Peru/Guatemala in all those aspects than to GB/France for example?
  18. Good result for young Maximilian Schachmann, i know that the other guys werent elite, but i think the 2 guys ahead of him are top 10-15 in the world?
  19. How do you plan to determine that? You can only find your limit by actually dying, maybe you could tell someone to stand nearby with a defibrillator ... ?
  20. The 10000 m runners will be happy though.
  21. Will be interesting to see what Kaul can do. On the one hand the conditions seem difficult, considering the results in javelin throw qualification, on the other hand Kaul has apparently been throwing 77 m in training, so let's see ...
  22. Sometimes it might be better to think before you post ... You are certainly in no position to tell me what to do, next time you show this behavior i will report your comment. 1) I dont follow badminton, i have no clue which athletes compete for Germany in this event. 2) Table tennis on the womens side Germany used to have two chinese athletes, same as basically all other european nations. 3) Which athletes in athletics are you talking about? Anyway saying that for example german athletics team is filled with immigrants is pure trolling.
  23. You obviously missed the point of the discussion ... Of course it is part of Europe for sporting purposes, otherwise people from there wouldnt be allowed to compete for France ... The question was whether it is part of Europe geographically and its clearly not. Israel is also part of Europe for sporting purposes, but not geographically.
  24. Hats off to you, way more advanced than my rhyme But guess who doesnt give a dime? Richard Kilty ...
  25. Montserrat is in Europe? Probably just like Guadeloupe is in Europe ...
