  1. Isnt that obvious? This is a track for sprinters, so the athletes are so fast that their times cant be measured. Of course i actually wanted to quote your comment about the russian time in womens team sprint ...
  2. Not too surprising, given that this track (build for Chris Hoy) is said to be clearly in favor of sprinters and not endurance athletes.
  3. Good time for Germany, considering that Hinze is only the 3rd option and that this is the first time that Welte and Hinze compete together. Maybe in Tokyo we will even see Grabosch and Hinze together. Also gutsy move by the german coaches to have Timo Bichler (born in 1999) in position 1, will be hard for him to make Rene Enders (probably the best athlete ever in position one of the team sprint) proud .
  4. What do you guys think, which european championships records will go down the next couple of days? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_European_Championships_records_in_swimming I think on the men's side the 50 free, 200 back, 50 fly, 200 fly, 50/100/200 breast and 200/400 IM records might go down. On the women's side i would say the 50/100 free and 50/100 fly records might go down (all thanks to Sjöstrom).
  5. Smart race by Italy, two medals for Italy in team pursuit in 2020? Could someone maybe tell me what happened with Viviani's teeth?
  6. Wont bother to watch the clip, could you maybe express with words (as people usually do in a discussion) what your point is?
  7. Both Denmark and Germany flopping hard. Germany has an excuse since Schomber and Reinhardt are ill/injured, but what the hell was going on with Denmark?
  8. I think GB and Italy were both slower than at the world championships while Germany was more than a second faster. I am bit surprised that neither Brauße nor Knauer made the team, overall the german team is rather old. On the mens side i am very excited to see what the german team can do with two new riders (One of them being Domenic Weinstein, who is by far the best german athlete in individual time trial) compared to the team that rode 3:56 at the world championships.
  9. Another tournament without the majority of top talents, France and Germany don't seem to care much about junior tournaments sadly. I think there are maybe 5-10 guys who have NBA potential, but noone with the potential to be a lottery pick.
  10. Absolutely disgusting performance by the german team, no excuse. Given the way the german coach talked before this match i am not very surprised, they were already thinking about the final. In the end the only thing that counts is the gold medal final in 2020, they can't do anything between the olympic games that will gain the attention of the german public, they will have to be there when it counts in 2 years. It's time to finally win another gold medal after 2004, although the Netherlands won't make it that easy.
  11. I know, those predictions are more my personal hope, i don't want any tourists to be nominated. I also predicted 1 (Pries) in BMX, although i think that Germany has a world silver medallist in freestyle BMX, but i don't rate this sport. The same is true for all the other new sports. Sadly i think that Germany will also qualify someone in women's mountainbike, men's beach volleyball, rhythmic gymnastics and trampoline.
  12. Also France (men's 100 m, men's 800 m, men's 110 m hurdles, men's 3000 m SC, men's pole vault, men's triple jump, men's decathlon, women's triple jump). GB probably won't win much apart from sprints, women's 1500 m and maybe men's 20 km race walking/women's long jump, but that should be enough to win the medal table.
  13. Haha, i like your humor! A cuban athlete not starting at EUROPEAN championships would devaluate the event ... Having one cuban athlete (Ortega) steal medals from EUROPEAN athletes at EUROPEAN championships is enough for me. Would be amazing if IAAF would never allow him to compete for Portugal, maybe then Portugal/Spain/Azerbaijan/Turkey/GB will realize that they have to develop their own athletes instead of just naturalizing as much foreign athletes as they can.

  15. Yeah, but if i understood the document correctly, the standards will be extremely high, my expectation would be something like 2.34 m in mens high jump.
  16. As a german fan i expect 3-5 golds and 12-15 medals in total. Good medal chances: - Mens 10000 m - Mens 20 km race walking - Mens triple jump (if Heß is fit) - Mens decathlon - Mens shot put - Mens discus throw - 3 x mens javelin throw - Mens high jump - Womens 1500 m - Womens 5000 m - Womens 100 m hurdles - Womens 3000 m SC - Womens long jump - Womens triple jump - Womens 4 x 100 m relay - Womens heptathlon - 2 x womens discus throw - Womens shot put Small-medium medal chances: - Mens 1500 m - Mens 110 m hurdles - Mens 5000 m - Mens long jump - Mens pole vault - Mens 4 x 100 m relay - Womens 100 m - Womens 10000 m - Womens high jump - Womens javelin throw - Womens 4 x 400 m relay
  17. Does the polish federation really expect first place in medal table? I think GB will have the same goal. I think 5 golds would be the best possible result for Poland and in my opinion GB has a good chance to win more golds (mens 100 m, mens 400 m, mens 4 x 400 m, mens 4 x 100 m, womens 100 m, womens 200 m, womens 1500 m, womens long jump, womens 4 x 100 m). Germany also has a small chance to win 5 golds or more (mens shot put, mens discus throw, mens javelin throw, mens triple jump, mens 20 km race walking, mens 10000 m, womens long jump, womens triple jump, womens shot put, womens 100 m hurdles, womens 3000 m SC), but is far more likely to finish 3rd in the medal table.
  18. So? Thats how its been for the last olympics already, nothing new.
  19. I hate the new IAAF system, it basically discriminates younger athletes, for them it will be much more difficult to gain a good world ranking. Also very unfair for athletes who are injured for 1-2 years prior to the olympics and therefore cant gain a good ranking. I never thought that i would say this, but IAAF should take FINA as an example.
  20. Are you sure? Thats like the most insane rule i ever heard, this makes 3 x 3 basketball even more ridiculous than U23 football. Do you know whether a nation can qualify both a regular team and a 3 x 3 team? Would it for example be possible for Germany to qualify a mens team and a 3 x 3 mens team?
  21. Am i missing something? RUS and BUL are each in 2 finals ... ?
  22. Its gonna be interesting to see what the german women can do without Seitz, Scheder and Alt. The team will be Schäfer, Bui, Grießer, Höfele, Voss. I think if everything goes according to plan, then one out of Bui/Grießer/Höfele/Voss will get the last spot at the 2020 olympics besides Alt, Schäfer, Scheder and Seitz. Germany has no problems on uneven bars (Scheder, Alt, Seitz) and balance beam (Schäfer, Alt), but big problems everywhere else, so i think whoever will perform best in the next 2 years at vault/floor will have a good chance to qualify for Tokyo. On the mens side the team will be Nguyen, Toba, Klessing, Dunkel, Bretschneider. Nice to see 2 younger athletes in the team, especially Klessing seems to have improved during the last 12 months, maybe he can surprise on the rings in Glasgow. Herder and Daußer missing out is a bit surprising, but i hope that they will train even harder now to make it back into the team.
  23. So Wikipedia got the draw wrong? According to Wikipedia one of the seminfinals should be Netherlands vs. Germany (the 2 strongest teams in my opinion, so i am not quiet sure what the "" is supposed to say here?) if everything goes according to plan. If Germany would really only have to beat ESP/BEL and ITA/IRL/IND to reach the final, then anything but Germany reaching the final would be a huge shock. Germany vs. Netherlands would be the best final in my opinion, although i am not sure how close it would be (despite Xavier Reckinger doing a great job in continuing the trend that Jamilon Mülders started).
  24. I would only consider Horton, Paltrinieri (1500 free), Peaty and Kalisz (400 IM, maybe also 200 IM) clear favorites, but i would add Milak (200 fly).
