Our chances at qualifying for Paris 2024 in men's basketball are looking really good right now. SGA, Murray, and Wiggins have all had great NBA seasons. US will be most likely be qualifying first in the Americas, but the fight for the second quota is wide open (IMO Canada and Dominican Republic are the most likely to place second, with KAT declaring his intention to play) Certainly helps that Argentina failed to qualify for the World Cup, as they probably would've been the #2 team.

and get the last women's team quotas in table tennis. 11/12 teams are the same as in Lima, with replacing this time.
12 athletes will compete for the last 6 quotas: (plus wildcard presumably)

no, only the cycling races will be on D+/Eurosport (thanks to the agreement with GCN, which overcomes any other agreement for that sport).
nothing at all also on our public broadcaster, rai, in the first 2 days (need to wait for the following days' schedule).
on the other hand, Tomorrow we're going to have Berlusconi's funeral live on 16 (no joke, really, 16) different TV channels
Italy, what a wonderful Country!
Italy in 2023...better than ever!

More news here, Pavan is signed up with Molly McBain for the (upcoming) Jurmala Challenge, Gstaad Elite16, Edmonton Challenge, and Montreal Elite16.
Bukovec, on the other hand, is currently registered with previously retired Heather Bansley for three FIVB events (Espinho Challenge, Edmonton Challenge, Montreal Elite16). So that would mean Bukovec would transition back to blocker. If they live up to their potential, this would be our best shot at qualifying a second women's pair for Paris 2024 through Olympic Rankings (Assuming Mel/Brandie also qualify).

The Pan AM Championships (on the FPS website) manual says the top 6 qualify. So it looks like they just cancelled the final qualification event.
This means qualifies both teams. This also means 6 entries in the mixed doubles, meaning two countries are guaranteed a medal before the event even starts (unless they do a different format from Lima 2019.

gets a team in women's table tennis
or will get the men's quota at the South American Championships.
did not enter this event, but bizarrely will be competing at the final qualifier in two days in the same venue. Makes no sense too me.

Two OFSAA records today
Julia Tunks (daughter of Jason) broke the women's senior discus throw record with a throw of 55.62, beating Trinity Tutti's throw of 52.77, it also beat here Canada wide throw of 53.72 from last year. Julia is only 16 and has a PB of 59.11. If she gets a few more throws in that range she might even qualify for Worlds.
Sayanthan Arulrajan broke the men's junior long jump record with a jump of 7.17 m, beating the previous record of 7.09 from 2010.

Canada just defeated Cuba in at the North American women's championships in Greenland. Cuba beat Canada in Lima 2019 by 13 goals and went on to win the bronze. The Canadian women now qualify for the final vs Greenland (who are the heavy faves), but an accomplishment in itself. The Canadian women can now aim for a surprise bronze (or better) medal in Santiago.

Canada is literally burning and the smoke from wildfires is all over Canada and the Eastern US.
Some of the pics look like they were taken in a post-apocalyptic world

For its all time debut already beat 10 paddlers in 1st K1 heat right now in Prague
Andy Barat,
NOC https://www.al-fajrquotidien.com/26eme-assemblee-generale-de-lanco-a-seoul-quattend-le-cosic-de-cette-assise/ hope he should fight for the African quota for Paris and experience the nation debut in Canoe Slalom at the OG.
but honestly he should first pray Mathis Soudi qualify directly before, otherwise, I do not think he will (anyone) stand a chance against Soudi in the Continental qualifiers

Unfortunately with inflation, higher airfare costs, stagnant government funding, expect more like this to happen.
