I think gender equality is by sport. So gymnastics is equal in that regard.2 points

Olympics are intrinsically about nationality since ancient times. It's always been about nations competing so they don't do real war. Without nationalities the concept of olympics loses it's purpose. Maybe it'll be for the better, but it won't be the olympics anymore and we should therefore close this website.2 points -

Here are my best moments from these games. Artistic gymnastics ROC winning gold in both team all around competitions. Ferrari taking silver in floor exercise at her fourth olympics, after tearing her achilles in 2017. She had finished fourth three times before, in floor exercise in both 2012 and 2016 and in team all around this year. Athletics Lasitskene winning gold in high jump, after being denied the chance to compete in 2016. Seidel winning bronze in marathon. According to our commentator here, Seidel was working two jobs to fund her olympic preparation, as a barista in a coffee shop and as a babysitter. Fencing Pozdniakova becoming the first right-handed fencer to win gold in women's individual sabre and adding another gold in team sabre, following the steps of her father. Brunet taking a silver and a bronze after her Rio heartbreak. Estonian gold in women's team epee. Szilagyi winning his third consecutive gold in men's individual sabre. Judo France stopping Japan's dominance with a gold medal in the mixed team event. Rowing Italy, France, Netherlands winning the medals in the insane women's lightweight double sculls final. Shooting San Marino's historic medals. Swimming Shields taking a gold medal in the medlay relay after mental health issues and suicide attempt. Sullivan winning silver behind Ledecky, after overcoming mental health issues as well. Water polo Serbia's great team concluding their journey with another gold medal. Wrestling Sadulaev beating Snyder for gold. Naifonov winning a bronze medal. When he was 7 years old, he was held hostage in Beslan school siege and his mother died there. Maroulis winning a bronze medal, after fighting PTSD.1 point

BALCO scandal unearthed the facts that USA is as dirty as East Germany & co. And federal law was immune to Nike & Big Tech money plus Marion Jones lied to the FBI. It was a spectacular collapse in the end. It's no wonder Carl Lewis keeps it relatively low-key these days, he knows he got away with major doping issues and USTF knows that too. It's better to keep him in the basement while Michael Johnson remains the most visible former US athlete out there.1 point -
So IOC should ban USA and IAAF from Olympics1 point

Carl Lewis failed three doping tests during 1988 US Olympic Trials. He admitted it back in 2003 already. It's common knowledge he was a cheater too. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2003/apr/24/athletics.duncanmackay1 point -

Ah yes, we should disqualify people based on what DeGambassi or Orangeman or OlympicsFan or other big experts think it's obvious, it' much more reliable and fair than doing anti-doping tests1 point -
Remember gender equality doesn't apply to men.... as long as women are equal or more its fine in the eyes of Mr Fencing gold medalist 19761 point

"Are you hurt?" "But who gives a fuck now"...I think anyone who watched videos made from the stands of the first words between his coach and Jacobs after the 4x100 knew he was going to be out for a while. He might be doping but he's not the one who tested positive so far British journalists have to prove it instead of making vague references Ryan Murphy-style1 point -

To not run the rest of the season makes me think he knows he won’t be caught back home and would be protected by some form of corrupt national doping agency. Athletes times don’t normally drop that quickly if he didn’t actually dope for the rest of the year.1 point -

I think the events are mostly set for 2024 (barring weightlifting getting completely kicked out), I'm thinking ahead as to how the IOC may make medaling events gender equal (because they will). Gymnastics poses an interesting conundrum where they'll have to work with wrestling to keep their respective disciplines in the games or either axe the artistic apparatus events or increase the women's event to six apparatuses by adding two of PH/Rings/PB/HB, neither of which are ideal.1 point -

Who here is finding themselves rewatch various medals by Canada? Upon my return to Beijing I moved into a new apartment with a giant smart TV so I broadcast all the medals all the time from CBC's site these past few days. I can't believe I missed W8's gold, I knew they were doing great (look up my posts about them in the heats). I was supposed to watch on a train, but there were complications about getting into the station and the covid outbreak I mentioned. It drained my phone, my time and my patience, so read about it hours later. I've enjoyed it several times on my new TV now.1 point -

I believe/hope you are trolling, but in case you aren‘t i will try to clarify the things you are having trouble with understanding: I am not angry about Germany not winning more medals, It only makes me sad to see people cheering for obviously doped athletes (who are coincidentally from the same nation as them). I have lost all illusions about sport and I certainly am not biased towards German athletes (you can go back and read what I wrote after the German women set a new world record in the team pursuit). I realized that people who follow sports at this level support doping and I will try not to watch any sports at this level anymore. It has become impossible for me to enjoy any performances, because I can’t stand the injustice anymore, regardless of the nationality of the winner. When you look at the medal table, you realize that mostly countries with very nationalistic populations (USA, China, Russia, GB, Hungary) are doing well and I don’t believe that this is a good thing. Sport in this form is used to divide people of different nationalities/unite against people of other nationalities and I don’t believe that this is a good thing. We saw this as well at the football European championships. Personally I believe that the concept of nationalities/nations should be abandoned and obviously this would also mean getting rid of competitions between nations.1 point -

@phelps you have to give credit to this guy, I never saw such a persistent troll. he never gives up on cancelling the Olympics (or anything similar to that) when he fails on "his mission" for Tokyo 2020, he focused on Paralympics 2020 and Beijing 2022. the next is probably Paris 2024. he never gives up1 point

Stressed rider = stressed horse. A story that goes back to the ancient times. It's like it was her first time riding a horse. Casual fans will as usual just blame the horse, because humans must be faultless, naturally. Does anyone actually believe that a pro-rider would have such problems managing a stressed (even naughty), but at the same time a capable horse? From what I read on the equestrian outlets, Schleu received no sympathy.1 point
