  1. Yeah it seemed quite small, would size 56 be a “junior/youth” size?
  2. Oh, cool. So the 1 and 2 Athletics pins would have been mid/high level recreational? There’s also a football pin with “футбол” (I think) on it. I’m assuming that just says “Football” or something. The random Ski Jumping pin is also a weird addition. The pin reads “VIII зимова спартакlада УРСР”
  3. What about this @Dmitry? I’m assuming it just says “property of USSR” or “made in USSR” or something?
  4. It could be Cyrillic, but it looks modified from the Cyrillic I’m familiar with (which is very little obviously).
  5. Here’s some writing from the inside of the cap:
  6. Any clue as to what the Russia word is? Does the number 3 mean anything? There’s also a pin on the side that depicts a “Viking” ship with the word Novgorod going vertical, and with what looks like an old Norwegian word going horizontal.
  7. Okay, too many countries use the double eagle . I assume it’s Soviet, but I’m so confused. I’ve never been to Russia (and no one in my family has)
  8. Maybe @Vojthas @dareza @dcro @Federer91 could help me here?
  9. So, my parents are renovating our house currently. That means I have to completely clean out my room, which I’ve never really done since I’ve been born. It’s not a problem for me, and I’ve enjoyed finding a bunch of old stuff. My recent has really perplexed me though. I’m posting pictures below. I don’t have the slightest memory as to how I came to own this, and I’d appreciate any help in identifying it. My family has no history (on either side) in Eastern Europe, but my grandfather often brings me back things from his travels (he’s been to probably 75-100 countries). I would assume it’s Soviet (duh), but I thought the double eagle was more of a Polish/Austrian thing (Albania too). I would also like to know if any of the pins mean anything special, or if any of the sports pins are from big events. I’d really appreciate the help. Sorry for the quality of the photos, I think it has something to do with @Sindo limits (which is fine). The crest on the double eagle is of a horseback rider stabbing a dragon (serpent?, dragon/dog?) with a long spear. A lot of the Athletics pins feature the following word “РАЗРЯД”
  10. Israel will vote to annex 30% of the West Bank on Sunday. This comes after the announcement of Trump’s peace plan. His plan would see Israel get all of Jerusalem (so it’s already going to have issues right there), and that part of the West Bank that they’ll vote to annex. Palestine would get the rest of the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and then some parts of Israel to connect the two (which will also never happen). Of course this also comes after three consecutive Israeli elections (and before a scheduled fourth). The left may be strong enough to prevent this, but I doubt it. Netanyahu is has also been officially charged with bribery, money laundering, etc. “Exciting” times in Israeli politics.
  11. I didn’t see/read anything about these being a youth games...Did I miss something?
  12. Well unlike Karate, Squash, and Baseball they’ve actually held a spot in the Olympics for half a century now. Yes, I agree with your bottom point.
  13. Say hi to the Caribbean Games : https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1089793/guadeloupe-to-host-2021-caribbean-games There’s now somewhere between 15-25 multi-sports games scheduled to take place in 2021.
  14. Man, China is losing sports event be left and right. This is also shows the massive amount of money China has invested in sports. It’s crazy honestly.
  15. X Games Chongli has been postponed due to fears about the virus.
  16. Also, there’s nothing wrong with the Winter Olympics. The only reason they’re even held separate from the Summer Olympics is because of climate. Those sports would be in the Olympics either way. It’s not really anyone’s fault that more NOCs don’t win medals. We’ve seen more and more countries competing in the winter sports recently, so clearly there’s a taste for winter sport.
  17. Snowboarding is a “classical” winter sport though. It was an Olympic sport years before the other (which are both debuting in Tokyo (so I could argue they owe Snowboarding some thanks)).
  18. So you mean that countries that care about sports, and often offer funding, do better than those that don’t. Revolutionary Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan have won medals well (Kazakhstan with actual Kazakhs). There’s also a very good chance we could see Colombia, Argentina, or Chile win medals in the future.
  19. Honestly, you have it easier following Olympic qualification. Try following World Games qualification. Only 6 out of like the 30 IFs have even posted qualification docs Do you have any clue why they chose the German Open? It seems a bit random
  20. Oh, well if Germany’s going to qualify anyways, I’d rather then
