  1. Thanks @Dragon it is very interesting. I wonder how it looks in W 100m when you use your magic program :-) As English Wikipedia says: Making such comparisons was unjustified, because of differing conditions and equipment. For example, Marlies Göhr's result of 10.95 in women's 100 metre run was slightly better than Evelyn Ashford's winning time of 10.97 at the 1984 Olympics, but when the two met head-to-head a week after the Friendship Games, Ashford was much faster than Göhr and set the new world record.
  2. You can all write your silver and bronze predictions in the comments section. It will be very helpful.
  3. Next poll one Event only, but sadly no time for more this week @Josh thanks a lot for you help in preparing this poll!!!

  9. @esube could you please put here editable version of your excellent work here, if you don't mind. We could help you on this project then, if you're interested. I do admire all the work somebody else does for preparing Paris detailed schedule on this website, but your schedule is much more useful for me. It is one-page per-day in an easy manner to follow when you use this kind of timeline, of layout, if you know what I mean. Thanks in advance, have a good day.
  10. Thanks a lot. I am obviously very interested how you counted these 214 athletes for Team Poland. So if you have time for it, let us know. Extra 12 hours, you say... Man, this is really impressive. I have been doing sth similar you did for some olympics back in the shooldays and it took me much more time. Respect. PS. And how does your TPE simulation look like???
  11. LA 1984 day 3 summary Medal table (27 events) 10-5-6---21 7-4-8---19 4-1-1---6 3-8-2---13 2-1-2---5 1-3-1---5 0-2-2---4 0-1-3---4 0-1-0---1 0-1-0---1 0-0-2---2 0-0-1---1 USA vs USSR battle is warming up in the middle of the Cold War... Bulgaria is "the best of the rest" so far - 3 golds in weightlifting and 1 gold in shooting.
  12. Day 3 events Gymnastics Artistic - Men's Team 1. United States 591.400 (LA1) 2. China 590.800 (LA2) 3. Soviet Union 590.300 (FR1) That was close final to say the least. 3 teams within 1.1 pts at the end. But I don't know whether simply comparing LA and Friendships results are reliable. I think it's not so easy to compare results from different competiton - different set of judges etc. @thiago_simoes i am very interested in your opinion here, if you'd like to pay attention to this little thread Shooting - Men's 50m Running Target 1. Igor Sokolov URS 592 (FR1) 2. Tibor Bodnar HUN 591 (FR2) 3. Thomas Pfeiffer GDR 590 (FR3) This is already 3rd Chinese LA gold lost here. 2 golds in weightlifting in the first 2 days, and now this one. And another event I miss a lot in today's olympics event schedule. Shooting - Mixed Trap 1. Alexandr Asanov URS 199 (FR1) 2. Jorg Damme GDR 194 (FR2) 3. Josef Machan TCH 194 (FR3) In LA it was mixed event, in FR it was men's only. Italy has sadly lost its LA gold here. No medal for Peru, either. Shooting - Women's 10m Air Rifle 1. Pat Spurgin USA 393 (LA1) 2. Edith Gufler ITA 391 (LA2) 3. Svetlana Komaristova URS 390 (FR1) Swimming - Men's 100m Freestyle 1. Rowdy Gaines USA 49.80 (LA1) 2. Mark Stockwell AUS 50.24 (LA2) 3. Sergey Smiriagin URS 50.26 (FR1) Swimming - Men's 200m Backstroke 1. Sergei Zabolotnov URS 1.58.41 (FR1) WR 2. Vladimir Shemetov URS 1.59.54 (FR2) 3. Rick Carey USA 2.00.23 (LA1) Swimming - Women's 400m Freestyle 1. Tiffany Cohen USA 4.07.10 (LA1) 2. Astrid Strauss GDR 4.07.66 (FR1) 3. Irina Laricheva URS 4.09.70 (FR2) Swimming - Women's 4x100m Freestyle Relay 1. East Germany 3.42.41 (FR1) WR 2. United States 3.43.43 (LA1) 3. Soviet Union 3.44.31 (FR2) NED has lost its silver here, 4th 0.09 sec behind Soviets. Swimming seems to be easy to compare, but in the real world i think NED might have been able to swim this 0.1 sec faster if they had fought USSR in the same race. Swimming - Women's 100m Backstroke 1. Ina Kleber GDR 1.00.99 (FR1) 2. Kristin Otto GDR 1.02.02 (FR2) 3. Theresa Andrews USA 1.02.55 (LA1) And another medal for Kristin Otto in LA. I wonder if all the Friendship Games medalists would pass the doping tests in LA... Weightlifting - Men's 60kg (Featherweight) 1. Stefan Topurov BUL 322.5 (FR1) 2. Yurik Sarkisyan URS 315 (FR2) 3. Anton Kodzabashev BUL 295 (FR3) Third BUL weightlifting gold in a row in LA. Third CHN weightlifting gold lost in a row in LA. Four CHN gold medals lost in LA within first 3 days. No gold for CHN in LA in our simulation yet.
  13. @rajiv And Aussies are leading the medal table after Event #17 in our early Paris 2024 prediction polls So... no worries!!!
  14. @Topicmaster1010 we will be waiting for version 2.0 in December with a great interest. But - for the time being - could you please share with us some info from time to time? Like, certain NOCs - which events they will qualify??? I know you have spent so much time on it already and don't want you to spend much time now again. So maybe you could start with some smaller NOCs, it won't take much time. Like e.g.
  15. Good thing is we don't see 15 countries. 15 NOCs at the olympics, could you imagine that? Would be boring as hell.
  16. Yes, you are 100% right. It seems to be eurocentric. What can we do to change the tide here? Firstly, I would invite You to join our voting if You wish. And i think a choice of events so far may be a factor here. And maybe (maaaybe) AUS has many golds in the olympic history, but they don't have that many events when they were GOATs. OR when they were popular's votes darlings. For example, i was pretty surprised that Matthew Mitcham has got only my wote in 10m Platform Diving competition... @dullard any thoughts on this???
  17. Denis Kudla, USA is a LL and will play Safiullin today. No Kyrgios vs Rune battle in 3rd though... Good.
  18. Personally I won't miss the guy. Not a fan, to say the least. Olivia Gadecki is through to the 2nd round. Polish roots I guess.
  19. @Sindo could you put a link to this Topicmaster1010 post on the front page somehow???
